We just got home from our weekend trip and we had a magical time. It was myself, my husband and 19 yo son. We stayed at Camelot Inn for the third or fourth time. Pillows were awful this time for some reason!

After a 7 hour drive that should’ve taken 5.5 hours we arrived on Friday at 4:15. Got checked in and headed to GCH Craftsman Bar for our dinner reservation. The security line was INSANE! Like I’ve never seen the lines so long personally and we of course picked the slowest moving one! Once we got through we met up with my BIL who lives locally for dinner.

It was our first time at eating there and it was meh. We had the sticky wings, pizza and someone got a burger. I will say the ambiance and live music was great though! After we walked around DTD and did some shopping. Loved using mobile checkout at World of Disney!

Saturday we were up early for rope drop starting in Disneyland. Got my virtual queue for HMH right at 7 for group 42z We left a little earlier than we normally would’ve since the security lines had been crazy the night before. No need to have worried though! We were through in less than 5 minutes and the entrance lines into the park had just opened and we were through them quickly. We lined up at 7:30 to rope drop Space Mountain. Slight disadvantage due to early entry but we were on it within 10 minutes in the front row. Walked on Matterhorn with a wait of maybe 5-10 minutes then headed directly to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. We walked right on with no wait! We had never been on this and didn’t know what to expect but we were all impressed!
I had a Lightning Lane or whatever they’re now called for Indy that turned into an MEP when it went down. I was excited to try to accelerate but I now know it doesn’t work anymore 😟 I had rebooked Indy to try this plan but it failed!

Walked through Fantasyland headed towards Pirates and were amazed to see there were no people near the Royal Hall area so we took some photos and grabbed a garlic cheese bread to share. It was YUMMY!

We hit up pirates with a 10 minute wait then I got a coffe from Royal Street Veranda. It was gross!

It was time for HMH so we rode that then wandered over to Indy and rode that with the MEP. I modified my Lightning Lane from Indy to Big Thunder.

We grabbed a corn dog and walked to Galaxy’s Edge. Wandered around a bit and it was starting to get crowded so we decided to go take a break. Did some shopping on the way out and back to the hotel.

Once there I had two lightning lanes set up for Big Thunder and Incredicoaster and was able to make a third for Space Mountain. I kept modifying them to get the times I wanted for later that evening.

We headed back in to DCA. Ate dinner then went on Incredicoaster. Played the games on the pier and went to Avengers Campus to buy a statue. We then went back to our room to drop said statue off and went back to Disneyland to ride Space Mountain again. We went back to Galaxy’s Edge to check it out at night and rode the Falcon. A first for me and I’m not a good pilot!

Used our Lightning Lane for Big Thunder then headed out. Main Street was packed since the fireworks were about to start so we were routed behind the buildings which meant we couldn’t access Candy Palace on our way out so we decided to hop back to DCA and went to Trolley Treats.

Sunday morning we went and had breakfast in Huntington Beach and got back to our room around 1:00 to get ready for OBB. You can find my report on that here

We left this morning around 7:30 and are now home. Tired and sore after close to 50,000 steps over the two days! Overall it was a great trip but I do wish for the pre-COVID parks!

We had the same exact experience a few weeks ago on a Friday. Left for a hotel room break and came back in at 6pm and found the security line backed up like I've never seen. Went out past the dog-screening area and took 45+ minutes to get back in. Wonder if that is a typical Friday evening thing?

Good report and glad you had a mostly great time!

One more sleep!

It was wild! I don’t know if it’s locals coming in after work or people coming back from breaks for dinner… we didn’t have any issues on Saturday like that.

I saw this backup at Security as I was leaving the park on Friday about 5:30. I asked a Security guard why it was like this, and he said, "It's Friday!" I was done for the day so I don't know when things quieted down.
