Michala's actual birthday!!! I know birthdays are special and everyone has them but when the doctors tell you that they do not know how long your child will live when they are 1 month old birthdays are a big deal. When they are diagnosed with cancer when they are 1 year old and the doctors once again say they don't know how long she will live it becomes an even bigger deal. When she almost dies when she is 19 months old it becomes a HUGE deal. So we were so ready to celebrate. However when we woke up there was this very empty feeling. I started crying and asked Mike to please click Kim and gang on the Nextel and see where they were. They were already on the road headed home. How could we celebrate this day without them? We didn't even tell them bye. Well really we did the night before but that's just not the same.

We asked Michala what she wanted to do today. She is not able to speak so we started asking did she want to go see Mickey Mouse, did she want to go ride Buzz Lightyear and so on. She smiled and laughed at all of those. Where else would be the ideal place to celebrate your 6th birthday? The Magic Kingdom of course. So off we went.

We decided to take the ferry boat over. As we were standing on the ferry I was watching the CM untie the boat so we could launch. I love watching all the CMs and wondering why they work there. What did they do before? This was an older gentleman. I looked at Mike and said my daddy would have loved that job. He would have been so wonderful at that. Of course I started crying just at the thought and the wonderful memories. Also the longing of him not being with us to celebrate Michala's birthday and never being able to meet the girls.

Once we got there we went straight to City Hall to buy tickets for the Not So Scary Halloween Party Thursday night. They were sold out. I couldn't believe it! We went right over to the Barber Shop next to see if it was crowded. There were several people waiting so Mike decided not to wait to get a hair cut.

We went on over to Liberty Tree for lunch. It was wonderful! We really enjoy eating there. There is enough room for both of the girls wheelchairs and the food is great. Once we were seated our greeter brought Michala some streamers and confetti to decorate the table for her birthday. She took a Mickey cookie cutter and poured the confetti in. When she lifted it up the confetti was in the shape of Mickey. It was too neat! When we finished eating they brought Michala a cupcake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to her. Just as they began to sing the parade started coming by. One of the servers said OH Michala a parade just for your birthday. Of course I started crying. It was just so sweet. We had perfect seats for the parade. We could see right out the window. Our waiter opened the door and helped me push the girls wheelchairs in the doorway so they would have a good view of it. Mike said there's Prince Charming. I couldn't believe it when I looked. It was really him. It was "our" Prince Charming. I ran to the door and waved at him so he would see us there. He waved his Prince Charming wave back to us. I called him to let him know we were there. He wasn't supposed to be working that day so we didn't expect to see him. Something came up and they needed him to do the parade. Our waiter asked if we knew him and we said yes. He said I see him in the breakroom. It hit Mike and I as being so funny. He sees Prince Charming in the breakroom. Just too funny! Our waiter was awesome and even fixed us 2 cups of sweet tea to go without us asking. Too nice! Did I tell ya'll that's one of the reason we like Liberty Tree Tavern so much. It's the only place you can get sweet tea.

We went back over to the Barber Shop. There were only 2 people getting their haircut and no one waiting. Mychal cut Mike's hair. Mychal is so awesome and we love to have a chance to talk to him when we are there. Mike tries to time it where he needs a haircut each time. When he got finished he asked Mike if he wanted colored gel in his hair. I knew Mike's answer would be no. He said yeah sure let's do purple to match the girls outfits. I was blown away. The girls were so excited and really laughing at him doing that. He even got pixie dust in his hair. As soon as we walked out Marlee Anne wanted to pick the Pixie Dust out. She started picking it out and putting it in mine, Mary Elizabeth, Michala and her own hair. It was too cute!

Next we headed to Toon Town. Michala had to see Mickey on her birthday. We went to his house first and saw him. We got some wonderful pictures there. Mickey was very excited that it was Michala's birthday and she was celebrating it at Disney World. Next we went over to the tent to see the other characters. We needed to get Cinderella to sign the girls shirts. She was the only princess that had not signed them. As we were leaving Mickey's judges tent a very nice CM named Mike came up to us. He asked Mary Elizabeth would she like to see the characters. We said yes. He said follow me please. We always go in the back way to see the characters but have never had a CM come up and ask us like that. He was very nice. He announced to everyone that it was Michala's birthday. When we went in Cinderella and Suzy were there all alone. As Cinderella was signing the girls shirts the doors opened. I was thinking they were letting families in. When I looked up there was Pooh, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Snow White. I was in shock! I cannot imagine what the girls were thinking. Snow White came up and ask to hold Marlee Anne. I was thinking she is never going to come to you. She gladly went to her and was loving it. She kissed every character. When Donald came up to her Mike said what's a duck say. She made her quacking noise and Donald Duck just laughed and laughed. He made such a big deal out of it and just loved it. Pooh, Goofy and Donald all squatted down in front of Mary Elizabeth and Michala so they could see them really good. They were both laughing and smiling so big. Of course I was crying. They all made a big deal out of it being Michala's birthday. Pooh wanted to sing to her. Well all the CMs in there began to sing and all the characters danced with the girls and Mike and I. I started crying even harder. It was one of the most magical moments. A birthday we will never forget! One of the CMs said lets get a group picture. So we got a wonderful family picture with all those characters together. It's wonderful!!! We could not thank CM Mike enough for all he did to make that time so special. As we were walking away we were still in awe. The girls still had huge smiles on their faces and of course their kisses from Snow White.

Buzz Lightyear ride was next on our list. We got a snotty CM that told us we could not take Michala's wheelchair inside. I had already given her both of the girls guest assistance cards. I told her that her card says we can. She said well that's for the other wheelchair. I showed her that we had two. She said yes I know that but you will have to take her out and park her stroller. I said it's a wheelchair. She said she can't walk in? I said no she lost her leg to cancer. Now Michala has been in front of her this whole time. She finally looks down and says OH. Way to much trouble to be able to get on this ride. I hate having to explain all that especially when there are people waiting behind us. We were holding up the line this whole time. Most of the time I don't have to explain and honestly I don't think I should have to. It's very obvious! We ran into 2 other CMs like that later in the week but that was it. All the others were very nice and way to helpful. I didn't say that to down Disney in any way. I have said before that on the rare occasion that we run into something or someone like that we are triple blessed by meeting a wonderful CM or just having a very special experience.

Well the 3 CMs we experienced inside were awesome!!! The girls love this ride and all the lights. As we got to the exit the CM asked if we would like to ride again. Mary Elizabeth just smiled. Usually the first ride through I take pictures and then the next round I play. Am I one of the annoying guest you don't like because they take pictures on the rides?

It was time for supper so we headed over to Cosmic Rays. Our faithful stand-by. It wasn't very crowded so we got served and ate fairly quick.

We decided to try to see Wishes from the front of the Crystal Palace. No such luck that area and all of Main Street was packed. We went back to the place that Mike said to stop at in the first place. I hate it when he's right. LOL!!! We had a nice little spot in front of the Time Keeper. Well actually kinda to the side of it. Right where Tinkerbell would fly to the left of us. We had been there about 20 minutes. It was just minutes before it was supposed to start and a family came and stood right in front of us. Mike and I could see but there was no way the girls could see. Thankfully once the show started they moved. There was a family in front of us and they had a balloon on the stroller. The balloon was right in front of Mary Elizabeth and I didn't want to ask them to move it. The dad saw that it was in front of Mary Elizabeth and moved the balloon so she could see. I said all that to say it just took someone being aware of who and what was going on around them to make everyone's time enjoyable.

OK on to Wishes. There are no words to explain this fireworks show to you. Calling it a fireworks show doesn't even begin to do it justice. It was truly spectacular! We were so amazed. It's was absolutely beautiful. The music, the lights, the fireworks. All of it was fabulous! Let's see if I can find another word to describe it. LOL!!! We took our time heading back to the ferry because it was so packed.

When we got back to OKW Michala had a surprise waiting. Our special friends that gave Michala the weeks stay at OKW made sure they knew when Michala's birthday was. She had balloons and an autograph picture from Pooh waiting on her. The magic of Disney and some special friends.

what a wonderful way to celebrate your dd's princess: birthday!

It's great to hear that the girls were able to meet all of the characters!

Waiting for your next part :bounce:

What a great way to celebrate your dd's birthday! I would have cried, too. I know what you mean about how nice it is when someone notices that they need to move so someone in a wheelchair can enjoy themselves. When we went to DW last, we brought my 77 year old MIL and it was amazing how many times people would just jump in front of her and block her view or almost trip up the wheelchair! It is so nice when people are just considerate! Was that your letter and beautiful picture of your DD that I just saw in the winter Disney Magazine? What a cutie!!
