Some of you have been following my saga of arthritis and injury. A sad tale indeed. I broke my leg Thanksgiving morning and I've been in crutches for a week. The arthritis in my left hand is so flared up I have been wearing a brace on it. Today I saw the rheumatologist to see if there was anything I could take for pain--I'm highly allergic to Advil and Ultram. She decided to try a Lidocaine patch. It's a patch that sticks on your skin and delivered lidocaine(like novacaine) directly through the skin. You wear it for 12hrs and off 12hrs.
This stuff is amazing!
My hand has been so painful from weight-bearing on these crutches I could hardly even open a coke bottle or wash my face. The thumb is still stiff, but the pain is minimal. This morning it was 6 out of 10! I have to sleep with the brace on to keep it stable, but wow! If this pain patch will give me relief this is nearly a miracle!
