Magical Oct 4, 2014 Southern Caribbean

Australia sounds great to me. I want to go to the Galapagos Islands and the Cook Islands. Bora Bora would also be nice. I wanted to do the Greek Islands, but the whole trip is just too pricey for me. I'm thankful that I got to do Hawaii and I get to do another Southern Caribbean. Both are definitely favorites.

ABD does the Galapagos Islands, but the price is outrageous. I would love to go to the Cook Islands, but will probably end up in Bora Bora when I take my kids to New Zealand and Australia. My 10yo Julie would love to do a Hawaii trip. If we fly American, we will try to stop in Hawaii before heading to Australia and New Zealand. If we fly United, we will stop in Tahiti.

I love Fiji, but since I am taking the kids there Thanksgiving, I would rather see a different set of islands.

Wasn't that one the Baltic cruise? That was another one that was out of my price range. John doesn't fly well and we have to keep our flight times short. So between the cost and the plane, I won't be doing those. But I'm sure I would like them if I could make it.

YES!!! I so want that to come back. I was booked on it, but I was deathly afraid of cruising, so I backed out. It was completely my fault. Instead of going for it, I let my fear take over. I need a do over for that one :wizard:

I am never convinced about the Mediterranean cruises because I think the kids need more than 1 day in Rome. Of course, they don't have any desire to go to Rome because they want to go to Australia, but if we got there, I want more than a few hours. Pisa, you can do that early, get in and out first thing in the morning. But Florence, Rome, and Tuscany, you need more than just that one day. So I never wanted to do that cruise. I might feel that way about Helsinki or St Petersburg as well. Since I don't have the option now anyway, I guess I will feel I need more time there. :lmao:

I would say I want them to go back to Hawaii....I really want to go there but now Syd will be in high school for the southern so Hawaii probably is out ...10 days missing school would be ALOT. HMM BERMUDA sounds great then I won't have to go on RCCL.....lol.

I hope they go back to Hawaii again. 10 days is alot, no way around it if they went back to Hawaii ?

That's me in a nutshell Deb ! :rotfl2: I feel like I have been missing out on some great cruises.

Lucky you ! Fiji is on my list someday.......

Hope you get that chance for a do over. :wizard:

Thank you!! I only took my first cruise last Nov when my youngest had asked for it. I'm more willing to try new things that my kids really want to try.

Fiji is easier to get to than you would think. Air pacific has deals going all the time. From LAX I've seen airfare for as little as $800 roundtrip. I'm in ATL, so I am better off getting my own flight to LAX then flying to Fiji. If I tried to go direct from ATL, it would be a good $2,000 to $2500. It's a 10 hour flight, but again, not terrible and my last flight there was so smooth in comparison to any flight I have ever had to Europe. I was amazed.

You get better flights from ATL then I do from Myrtle beach. :sad:When I flew to LA twice for 2 different DCL cruises I ended going to Charleston to catch a flight. It's a 2 hour drive for us. The 10 hour flight is what I couldn't handle. Small world while living here we had a job in Kennesaw and would stay there for the week and drive back here on the weekends. That was a couple of years ago and I don't miss that car ride !!

I don't think so... pretty sure they couldn't go faster in the pacific without making people VERY sick... I heard it was rough even at the speed they did travel. I would love to do this too, but with only 14 days vacation for my husband it is hard to justify using 10 to get somewhere we can (and have!) flown easily.

Personally I would love a cruise through Asia leaving via Hong Kong or another nice large port!

:wave2: I was talking about her missing 10 days of school not 10 days of cruising. :rotfl2: I was on the first Hawaii sailing, yes there were rough seas going and coming back. I would do it again though if I had the opportunity. With my job now I couldn't take that kinda time off. Timing is everything.

How far is Myrtle Beach from here?? I wouldn't miss a commute like that either!! I always thought ATL was so expensive, but I am from Washington DC, so the flights there tend to be less expensive than ATL. I did snag $650 roundtrip to Paris from ATL. So I guess we can get a few deals.

This summer I am flying to Singapore directly from Chicago. 23 hours with no layovers.:crazy2: I thought the 16 hour flight to Australia was bad. My kids have never done a flight longer than 8 hours, so this will be interesting. I told them after that, a flight to Fiji will seem simple.

My mom lives in Kennesaw. Off of George Busbee Pkwy. It must have been awful driving in that Atlanta traffic to get back to Myrtle Beach?!:crazy2:

AND I want to be YOU!!! That's a lot of beautiful places to see and travel to. You're very lucky.....Bora Bora, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii or Tahiti. Those are all on my list of places I would love to see.

OH NO! I'm so sorry you missed it, but I hope it does come back sometime. I can understand why you didn't want to do a long cruise for your first time. How many cruises have you taken now? Where did you go on your first one? Do you love it now and are you hooked on DCL or cruising in general?

It's a good thing that your kids are adventurous then. It takes you out of your comfort zone but it gets you to do a lot of things you otherwise would not have done. That's a good thing.

Well then it's a good thing you got to go when you did. It's funny, I don't even remember it being rough. I guess I got used to it. I just remember checking the depth of the ocean on the navigator channel....something like 80,000 feet. It was deep water!

YA SEE.....I want to be YOU!!!! Paris and Singapore added to the list of others. You're a world class traveler. I love that, but I would have to do all of my travelling by sea, DCL specifically. I could not tolerate a long flight, both John and me have a hard time with it.

It sounds like you do too Tina. Anyone else who can't tolerate long airline flights?

:tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe: lurking...scheeming...hoping :rolleyes1 ;)

It's Monica......the Thief that we were talking about!!! Mon, I would LOVE if you would become a Mate and sail with us. If it's at all possible, I'll keep positive thoughts and pixie dust for you!!!

I threw up 12 of the 16 hours from Australia. However, the overnight flight to Fiji, I took Nyquil and slept the entire time. It helped that I spent the entire day in Disneyland before I boarded the plane. I also threw up on the plane home from London. Maybe I just don't like coming home. :rotfl:
