We were informed during the evening of 3/29 that we would not be in Key West on Sunday and would instead have a day at sea. We spent the morning exploring -and had our character breakfast at Parrot Cay.

My older DS found the arcade

After lunch my DS6 opted to go to the club and I went to take a nap! DH and DS12 wandered the ship and ended up playing Bingo.

We encountered the dreaded cold front! We have some video from out verandah of the 20+ ft. swells and 50 mph winds we encountered! We didn't make it to dinner - I decided instead to order room service and eat in. We all doubled up on our meclazine - which we had been taking since the day before the cruise and went to bed early! All of us felt a little queasy but no one was really ill - thank goodness!

Monday we were in Cozumel - we had scheduled the Tulum ruins tour. The cool weather turned out to be great for us! The only bad part was that we had to board a passenger ferry to get from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen to board the bus to Tulum. Just getting from the pier to the ferry was an adventure! There were at least 4 or 5 guys trying to wrestle the gangway so that we could board. The ferry was going up and down at least 3 to 4 feet. Once we were all boarded we crossed over to Playa del Carmen. The ride was extremely rough and there were several people that were sick on the ferry. My DS12 was absolutely green when we finally got off. We had a walk of several blocks to where the busses were parked. They made one stop on the way out to Tulum at a "market" where locals were selling crafts and souveniers. This was also a bathroom break - which was interesting to say the least! The ladies room was at least relatively clean but no toilet seats on any of the toilets

We had a great time at the ruins - our guide was very informative and proud of his Mayan heritage. We spent about an hour at the small beach there - just long enough to get sunburned!

The ferry ride back was just as eventful - didn't notice anyone being ill but it was certainly rough! We checked at the ship to see what time we had to be back on board and spent about an hour shopping right at the end of the pier. We found out later that the ship had changed schedules and wasn't going to leave until 11 p.m.

This was our semi formal night so we went and had pictures taken at two different spots. They ended up turning out very nicely. Dinner was at Lumiere's for us and Shawn entertained the boys with some magic tricks (which they are still trying to figure out!).

DH & I did the "So you think you know your 50's music" - we didn't win! Then went to the adult cabaret show with Dan Riley (who was great by the way!).

We decided not to do any of the excursions in Costa Maya. We did do some shopping. I got some silver jewelry and my DS12 bought a stone chess set. (Which he had to hand carry all the way home!) The weather was not the best - but I think this could be a great place if the weather was pleasant. The highlight for my older DS was the report at dinner that someone had seen a 15 foot shark swimming around the pier. We had to almost physically restrain him from going out and looking for it!

We had a great time at the Mexicali Deck Party! There was free rum punch for the adults (a non-alcholic version was also available) that was being served on deck.

I have to say that the entertainment staff is great. We saw them all over the ship - all the time! They must never sleep. They do all of the deck parties, bingo, the game shows.... and we very entertaining!

great report - thx for sharing!
