I thought it would be fun to list where the Magical Moments pins are observed to light up. We got one under the giant Sorcerers Hat at MGM in late October. One metal pin backing fell off but when I returned to the vendor they gave me two rubber ones free, and they are much more secure. The cost is about $16 with tax. Here is my list of where it lit up (I may post a reply to my own message when I remember more places)--anyway, to me it was a lot of fun, though I wish there were even more trigger places.

Fantasmic -- it flashed blue at the Monstro whale scene, and then went absolutely nuts with all colors for a couple of minutes at the end.

At the Walt Disney question kiosks when you answer.
On the dark part of the Peter Pan ride at MK it flashes white and you can see lots of white flashes from other riders' pins.

Who wants to be a Millionaire at MGM

I know there are more but I either forgot or missed them. Any help from other recent visitors to WDW??

We were surprised to see that these pins light up when you're standing in front of Pin Central at Epcot, but only after 6:00 PM......I know, it sounds crazy, but it's true.......saw it with our own eyes....:)

........during the new Tapestry of Dreams parade at Epcot......

......and probably a couple of dozen other places I can't recall at the moment! I'm sure the kids will remember more than I could......;) .....I'll check with them in the morning and post any others that are interesting.......

It flashes red and orange at the end of the Dinosaur ride in AK
All the lights flash at the end of It's a Small World

...during the fireworks scene of El Rio de Tiempo...

...as you exit Spaceship Earth going into New Global Neighborhood...

ALSO...as I walked from FW to WS at dusk, a cart vendor (she was selling light up toys) asked if I wanted her to "activate" my pin. She said it would go off for about an hour. I said sure! She zapped me with a remote control device and it flashed for a good long time!

Cool thread!

I had a friend bring me my pins -- we are not going down until first week of December. It will be cool to look for all these light up areas.

Anyone have an idea as to how long the batteries are lasting?
I saw an extra set come with each pin, I was just wondering if they actually sold spares at the park...

Thanks!

I had to laugh when I read your question about battery life...:D .....the real answer depends on the age of the pin-wearer, as these pins, in addition to their automatic lightup features, are made to briefly light up at the touch of your own hand across the sensor on the face of the pin. Once my 8 year old discovered this fun feature, the batteries in her pin were spent in no time! :D :D

One thing we found in one of the pins we bought was that the batteries weren't as fresh as they could have been, so of course their life was shortened. But I'd say that assuming fresh batteries and "normal" use, they probably last anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

As for availability of replacement batteries in the parks, most, if not all, of the Magical Moments pin venues have replacement batteries on hand for purchase. As I recall, they run about $4.00 for a set of 2 batteries. And yes, the pins do originally come with an additional set.

Have fun with your pins!
