I decided to make a thread for past CPers to share magical experiences they have had either at the park, with friends, or with guests! Basically reminding all of us why we are doing this!

Can't wait to hear! :cloud9:

so my current boyfriend I have been dating on and off for about four years. I have always been a little bit of a commitment phobe when it comes to relationships. This past fall semester I was dating someone, and he was dating someone. However we promised we would still be "friends" so we saw every disney movie that came out and went out together as friends. Flash forward to this past January. both of us had ended our relationships with other people and we were hanging out, but both of us very hesitant to get involved with each other. So in January I went with my family to the D World. My sister was competing in a dance team competition which was a lot of fun. Well being the disney lover that I am I didnot want to stay and watch the dance teams I wanted to be in the parks. so i ran around park hopping by myself. I had fun but i was lonely. Well it was EMH at MK and I managed to get stuck over by the carousel and dumbo right before WISHES! I called my friend and he stayed on the phone for the entirety of the fireworks show. It was so reassuring. It was at that moment I knew he was the one!

I was a merch CP at Dinoland and was assigned to "apron" (selling vouchers for the games). I had one girl, about 10 or 11, keep coming back for one more, one more, one more. She spent about $20 and finally came back, empty handed and asked in her oh-so-sweet British accent, "How can I buy a teddy?" I asked her which one she was interested in and it was Comet Crasher which had sea serpents. I took her over, got her some "comets" in purple, Tinkerbell's favorite color donchaknow, and "sprinkled" them with "pixie dust" (I just rubbed my fingers like I was sprinkling...) She picked up the first ball and can you believe it, landed in a colored crater to win a prize! Not only did she win, but she won the BIG one!!!:cloud9: She took me to her grandparents who were sitting on a bench who were THRILLED. They wanted to take a picture of us. A few days later, they were in Chester and Hester's and I heard that sweet voice say, "look, it's the pixie dust lady!" :thumbsup2 Her grandma told me she'd been sleeping with "Nessie" (as in Loch Ness monster) every night and what a thrill it was.

THAT, my friends, is why you are here. I have become a character in HER story and you have an unequaled opportunity to do the same!

One night I was working on the elevators (Cali Grill) and a girl had one of those huge string puppets from China. It was REALLY tangled, to the point that the family couldn't untangle it.

I got out of the elevator and asked someone if they could take over for me. I told them to go have a seat and I would take the puppet (it had a name, I cannot remember it) to the "doctor" to get her fixed. Their pager went off, and I still hadn't fixed it. My manager came over and I knew I would get in trouble when she saw me wasting time. Instead, she was happy to see me doing what I was doing and started to help me. I seated the party and told them I would come back. We ended up fixing her animal and the look on the face of the family spoke a thousand words. It was probably the highlight of my CP. I showed them how to pull the pieces out if it ever tangled up again.

The employee empowerment that Disney gives employees is like none other that I've ever experienced!

A separate night I had a guest who actually remembered me from a couple months prior when I checked him in. I'm from outside a major city, so I don't put the small town, I put the city. This guest was walking by and called me out by name and mentioned my hometown (which, as I said, my actual town wasn't on the nametag, just the big city!). It was something else!

You guys will get so many magical moments as CP or PI that you will always remember!

*making little kids smile everyday

*being able to give back to the community such as Give Kids the World Village

*getting to know special guests who take pictures of you and send them to disney communications to make sure you get copies of them along with sweet letters about how helpful you were

*spreading the Disney magic to all guests

This could really go on and on, but you will find your own little magical moments depending on your role!

I had SO many while on my CP but one that has always stuck out was this one. I worked in entertainment and one day before the MK day parade the managers made an announcement about a gentleman they knew who lived in Orlando, loved Disney and came with his wife all the time. The manager said that they especially loved the characters.

Well the gentleman's wife had recently passed away and he had not been able to come to the parks since because it had been something they shared together. The manager said that he had convinced him to come that day to see the parade and so he told us where the man would be watching the parade from and asked us to spread a little Disney magic to him.

As I neared the spot where the man was (right at the end of the parade route)there was a back up because every single character was stopping to give him a hug. The man was crying... it was very magical to do that for him!:wizard:

Oh goodness that made me tear up!! And that's #3219 why I love Disney :]

Most of my magical moments happened on my alumni program. I worked custodial at MK, typically in Fantasyland/Liberty Square.

There was the time I was working an EMH shift and we were just about to close. I was walking past Cinderella's Carousel and I passed a young woman (probably early twenties) and her mom as I was pushing my trash cart. The young woman had a birthday pin on, so I said happy birthday. Then Pluto bounced on by with his handler to get on the carousel. The young woman gasped, "There's Pluto!" and started taking pictures. I was grabbing the trash from the queue, where Pluto's handler was, so I told him that it was her (the young woman's) birthday today, and he told Pluto. Then Pluto started waving to the girl to come with him, to get on the carousel with him, and she did, with this huge grin on her face! She and Pluto were the only ones on the carousel, and her mom was taking pictures of it while they went around. I went back to work, happy with myself for helping make her birthday special.

Another time, my manager gathered all of us CP's together (he called us his "A team") and told us that we were going to make a massive magical moment for a couple who'd come down for one (possibly) last trip, as one of the women was dealing with a terminal illness. It was her birthday, so our manager sent one of us to the shop to find a plush of the woman's favorite character, and those of us who had pins of that character pooled them together. Then, just before Wishes, we went to find them where they were sitting, out by Mrs Potts. We gave her the presents and then, at our manager's insistence, sang a birthday song for her. Immediately after the song, we scattered (at his prior instruction). Three months later, those of us who were still there (some were on a shorter program; I stayed to be seasonal) were written up in the Main Street Diary for what we'd done for that woman and her partner because they'd written to Disney about how thrilled they were.

Once when I was in Liberty Square, I was sweeping up near the Christmas Shoppe when I saw this little girl who was just bawling. Apparently, she'd been sleeping in her stroller and was with her grandmother while her mom and brothers went on the riverboat. I (and many of my coworkers) carried bubbles and stickers in my pouch and, since it was a slow day, I sat down to play with her for a bit and see if I could get her to stop crying. It took a little bit, but it helped, and her grandmother was very grateful.

We made tons of other magical moments, from free pins and fastpasses and stickers to pulling kids from the crowd for Lights Out before the parade to pixie dusting people as they walked by. We blew bubbles at crying kids and got people free popcorn when they dropped it (after cleaning it up, of course). Those are the three I remember the most fondly. I seriously loved being in custodial.

I'm a character attendant, and witnessed at least one magical moment every day at work. I could probably list dozens of them, but these two are definitely things I'll never forget. I was with Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore in the UK at Epcot everyday. For those of you who don't know, they're out all day except for about an hour in the afternoon, otherwise, Pooh and his friends go get some honey and come right back in just a few minutes. I had just let the last family go up to the characters, telling anyone who came up to the line that they would be right back. Since the characters are in a toy store, all the families said they would go look around and come back in a few minutes when they came back. A mom and dad came up with their son, a little boy who didn't have any legs. This boy "walked" around just like anyone else, using his hands to help drag his body along the ground. The parents started screaming in excitement because they saw Tigger, who was their son's favorite, and they even pulled out a hat for him to put on. I explained to them that they were just about to leave, but after looking at my watch and seeing we had about 2 more minutes, let them come inside. This little boy HOPPED over to Tigger, giggling at how he could bounce just like Tigger. We were all completely amazed watching him bounce up and down without any legs, and it was amazing to see how excited he got. We took tons of pictures of him, and tons with just him and Tigger. His parents told me that this was their first trip to Disney and their son had been most excited about meeting Tigger more than anything, so this was definitely going to be what he talked about for years when they got home. I'm so glad I was able to witness it :)

I definitely think the next story I'm about to share is when I got to make the most magic for kids. Two little girls were waiting in line, one in a Belle dress and one in an Ariel dress. The other attendant I was with had taken Pooh and his friends to go get their honey, so I sat down on the floor and talked to these little girls. I asked the girl in the Ariel dress why she wasn't with Flounder or Eric, and asked the girl in the Belle dress where the Beast was today. They thought I was insane at first, but eventually started to play along with me. I took out 2 index cards and asked if they could sign their autographs for me (I kept both of them.) One of their mom's (I'm guessing they were friends) told me to stop, she had to video tape this to show her friends and family, and made me re-enact my whole conversation with them. The mom's thanked me tons for being so sweet to their girls, who were shy at first when Pooh & co. came back but when I introduced them as Belle and Ariel, really played the part.

Okay. One more story haha. I went to visit my UK friends when I was off one day and was wasting time till I was meeting up with a roommate. I got to their location a few minutes before they came back out after their extended break. The photographer there was someone I know, so we were talking for a while. There was a family waiting in front of me, who started to ask me about my job and such. I explained to them about the College Program and how I worked in the UK everyday but was off today. Their son, who was 4, was a chatterbox, and asked me dozens of questions about Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore. At first he made a comment like "but they're not real right?" I answered, "Of course they're real! Pooh even invites me over for some honey sometimes!" His eyes just lit up as I told him more and more stories about my days of hanging out with Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore. When the 3 came back, he asked me to come into the room with his family when he met them, because he wanted to tell them I was here. He walked right up to Pooh and said "Pooh, your girlfriend Marissa is here!" It was one of the funniest and cutest things I have ever witnessed. His family wanted me to take some pictures with their son and Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore, and we all danced around together for a few minutes. It's amazing the magic that you can make even when you're NOT working.

ok so this is why i love disney and why i miss it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much. I worked front desk at SSR and OKW, so i didn't really get THAT much of magical moment opportunities but I did get to do the following:

My FAVORITE moment was when this ADORABLE family came to check in. A mom, dad, and two young boys. They had booked a studio room and when I brought up their reservation, I noticed that it said "due to counts, this family was upgraded, please advise"... well I was thinking of a way to make a big deal out of it, so I started talking to the family and asking them about their plans and offering suggestions of stuff to do around the resort and parks. Come to find out, this was the Dad's and sons' first trip to disney. After giving the kids buttons and coloring books/crayons and stickers, I explained that Mickey Mouse had heard that they were coming and wanted their vacation to be extra special and decided that they would be the family of the day and he wanted to give them a free upgrade to a one bedroom villa. The mom just looked at me and started BAWLING. She then explained that it was their dream to get a one bedroom (more amenities) but could barely even afford a studio and didn't even know if they would be able to make it for the vacation at all since her husband had just been laid off and they could hardly afford it. IT was all just really touching because according to them, I was the one that made all the magic happen. After they had left the desk, I arranged for balloons and welcome home autographed cards to be sent up for the boys.

Another time, this lady came in quite upset and crying because her dining plan was all messed up and nothing was going right for her vacation. I spent an hour and a half helping her with her issues and just talking to her. At the end, she thanked me because no cast member had yet just taken the time to really listen to her and just talk to her about day to day kind of stuff.

One time at OKW I was making balloon animals (we give them out to the guests) and these kids kept coming up asking for more. My fingers felt like they would fall off after making a bunch already, but I kept that Disney magic and made them anything I could think of. They had a blast playing with all of them and their mom LOVED me and asked if she could take my picture with the kids. I was THRILLED since it was my first time a guest wanted to take a picture with ME!!! We got to talking and it turns out they lived about 10 mintues from my home town and they said they were going to write a letter to Disney saying how much they enjoyed my interaction with their children.

ok... one more... I was at OKW again as a lobby greeter, welcoming home guests and offering any assistance and directing them which line to go to, etc. This REALLY CUTE little girl came up to me and asked me if she could have a pink balloon sword. I replied "why of course, princess" and went behind the desk to get one for her. When I gave it to her, she asked where my sword was. I asked her what color she thought i should have and she repplied Purple. So i went and got a purple one and when I got back to the lobby floor she proceeded to start a sword fight with me. The lobby was fairly busy at this time, but we ran all around the lobby having this epic swoard fight including me falling to the floor almost everytime she got me and making this big deal out of it. She LOVED it and her dad got the whole thing on film. He was beaming from ear to ear and the giggles that came out of that little girl are something i still hear:) :goodvibes
