My DD5 broke her big toe. Now she is worried that Disney will not be fun anymore. I have tried to reassure her everything will still be great but she is not buying it. I really want her to be excited for this trip. Any ideas would be great! Also does anyone know where I can find a picture od the "cool double stroller" we get to use now?

I broke my toe the DAY before my Disney trip last year. I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to walk around. You know what? I completely forgot about it once I got there! Get a wheelchair if the stroller is too "babyish" for her. She'll be fine. Mickey sprinkles pixie dust on boo-boos and makes them better faster! :wizard:

When my husband has to unexpectedly get a wheelchair just two days before our trip a few years ago, *I* had fun with it. I made up a sign that said "Richie's Wheelie Chair" and pinned it to the back. I put it in a Ziploc bag. He got a lot of comments.

Maybe you could put a cup on the top of the stroller with a sign that says "Collections for my big toe because he's broke".

:rotfl2: I love it! I don't think DH would go for it.

I broke a few bones in my foot and my big toe a few days before a Disney trip once. I brought one crutch with me every day and rented a regular wheelchair.

It was exhausting when my DH left me to wheel myself, and mildly annoying when I had to find somewhere to stash the crutch on rides, but I still had fun.

I would not suggest renting a wheelchair for a child, unless you can rent a pediatric wheelchair from home and bring it with you.

A 5 yr old would more comfortable in a stroller than a wheelchair.
The rental wheelchairs have sling seats and are very wide compared to a 5 yr old's body. She would have to stretch her arms out to reach the armrests, which are likely to be close to shoulder height. Because the seat is too deep for a 5 year old, she would either have to sit way forward in the seat so that her knees can bend (but then, she would have no back support). Or, if she sits back, her knees won't be able to bend and her legs will have to stick straight out - where the toe might get banged. The wheelchair is also quite heavy to push and higher to get into and out of than a stroller.
You will probably see lots of kids even older than your DD using the WDW strollers, so she won't be alone. If she can't walk in lines, you can get a Guest Assistance Card at guest Services in any of the parks that would allow you to bring the stroller into lines and have it treated like a wheelchair. You can follow the link in my signature to get to the disABILITIES Board if you have more questions.
