Magical Grand Gathering Trip with Pics. Completed

Loved the entire TR! I'm so sorry you all ended up getting sick. I have already packed lysol wipes and plan to wipe down the room upon arrival! I have been reading too many stories of people getting the stomach bug at WDW.

Glad you had a wonderful trip otherwise! And that you and your family loved CBR so much. I would have felt bad if you hadn't!

Thanks for all your help and thanks for reading too. I hear the stomach bug is really bad there right now. I would take a can of lysol too. Have you seen those travel size ones at Walmart andTarget? they usually have them right by the check out area. I also did all those things on arrival and even used clorox wipes on all CS tables we ate in the parks. For whatever this time it didn't help. But I still would do that all again because I don't want the stomach bug.

Ah I can't believe its over, thats 2 of my favorite reports finished in the same week . Sorry to hear you felt so bad, maybe post Disney blues. I am feeling pretty rough like that at the moment and just hope it goes by Christmas else it will not be fun

Cape May looks great for breakfast, another one I will have to try in the future. That sucks that Thomas didn't get any hugs with the characters, but at least you know for next time. And that is so cute he was so upset. I mean I know it must have been hard work being stuck in the car with the crying but to know he cares that much about Disney, thats got to be a good thing . I hope you get to stay at WL next year, can't wait for the next report.

Thanks Ariel . I hope you feel better soon. Cape May cafe was excellent for breakfast. It was awful being in the car with a kid who didn't want to hear anything about going home . I hope we get stay at WL too, we haven't stayed there since 2003. Kaylee would love to go back to Poly again though. CBR would be fine with me if we need to save a few $$$. I will have final thought coming up in a day or two.

I hate to say this but the mom is the problem, she thinks it's all about her all the time. Look at poor Thomas in the pics, even Kaylee couldn't always get near a character. Believe me we have a lot of people without manners here. Luckily my parents brought us up with good values and manners but it seems to be becoming increasingly rare these days. And that attitude you talked about I find happens a lot at Disney, especially with UK visitors, and the other UK visitors notice a lot. They think just because they have paid a bit more money to get there than they would to go to say, Spain, that they and their kids have the right to do whatever. That they no longer need to parent their children and that normal manners and rules don't apply. If you want to push in, you push in, If you want to stand in front of someone who has been patiently sitting there for an hour waiting for the parade with 5 minutes to go, then go for it. And God help anyone who has the nerve to say anything. A lot of people over here rant about these people forever giving us a bad name, but I guess we are more sensitive to it as we are from here. And on the other hand you guys feel the same. See I thought the people from the South were really nice, friendly and polite, and real too. I have met very few American's I have found to be rude, but then again I don't live there

And ewwwww if there was a bug I would have been out of there. And I think if Disney had taken it seriously they would have done more than some free adult drinks, they probably knew

I always thought people from the UK are nice & friendly but very honest with thier thoughts. I like that though since lots of people from the northeast are that way too. But I guess rude entitled people live everywhere these days. It's a shame though. As for the bug thing, who would tsya if they saw a giant cockroach under thier table. If I saw it then I would have left. I was debating as it was but we were done eating. Also we were 2 tables away from them. I'm a little squimish about going back there but it's my kids favorite . So were you able to make ADR's today??

Hopefully they get it under control long before your trip . I have always wanted to go to Disney over Christmas and thought of booking it for 2009. I just don't want to take a chance on one of us getting sick again. Sounds much worse than what we had to deal with on our trip.

Final Thoughts:


I guess I'll start by saying this wasn't our most magical trip ever but it was still a really good time for the most part. Thomas being sick did put a huge damper on our trip, though I'm relieved it was nothing really serious. We still won 2 dreams and the kids had a magical moment too. Our plans just got shifted around do much and we didn't get to do many things I was looking forward to doing. But that is what next time is for right .

As far as the Magical Grand Gathering it pretty fun overall even though we didn't get to do some of things we planned together. The Grand Gathering special events were definitely a highlight of the trip and I recommend the Fireworks voyage because the kids loved it. Well except Thomas because he slept through it. I think a Grand gathering with lots of time together would work great and be so fun if the other family has the same kind of touring plan. I'm not as into EMH as my friend is, in fact I don't usually bother with them. They did lots of the evening EMH's. Also I don't want to have 2-3 TS meals a day, that is just too much eating and too much sitting for our family. We usually only have 1 table service, maybe 2 a couple of the days.

After our awful ride home I thought I was finally in agreement with Tommy and didn't want to go back until 2010 . But those feelings lasted about a week and now I'm missing Disney just like always .

We do have a bounceback booked at Wildereness Lodge for October of 2009. Those dates are not 100% though because we would love to see the Christmas decorations and go to MVMCP next year. November would be perfect but that depends on when they start decorating I guess. Thanksgiving week is perfect but it's supposedly so crowded and then again I think October is quite crowded and rainy. Not sure I would want to go in December with all this sickness going around. I'm not even 100% on the resort. I love WL & Poly but I also want to try BC/YC and AKL. Then again deluxe might not be in the budget so we might just go back to Caribbean beach instead. If for some reason we don't get back to Disney in the fall then I will plan a Birthday trip for Thomas for the end of May 2010. Who knows maybe well do both . Fall would be great as it will be around our 10th Anniversary and Tom's Birthday is November 14th so going over his Birthday would be fun. Also we have always wanted to try the Disney cruise since we had to cancel last year. For now our plans are very up in the air. But as soon as I know some of our definite plans I will be sharing them with you all.

Glad you are home and had a good trip. Sorry you didn't get as much done as you planned. Sorry about your in laws . Unfortunately there were no Character handlers at this meal . I did tell her kids to let Thomas and Kaylee have a turn to get their picture with the characters but they didn't care what isaid and neither did their mom since she had her own agenda and that is all that matters to her . The car ride was one of the worst . We should have ate breakfast at CBR foodcourt and left earlier.
