We are heading back to disney in Sept. and we are thinking about doing the magical gathering breakfast and the international dinner in epcot. We have been to disney but have never done the grand gathering meals. There are 8 in our party 3 if which have never been to disney! What would you suggest, ae the meals worth it? Also does anyone know which days they are normally held? Your opinions and help would be greatly appreciated!!:thumbsup2

Hello,

It is our first time to disney and after looking at reviews etc we are going with the breakfast at tony's.

Fancied the illumination dinner but not alot of good reviews.

The safari and dinner comes up good with reviews though.

To do the above you have to have 8 adults minimum.

It sounds like you get more character interaction as well

When we go in August the breakfast availability was I think 3 times per week

Hi thanks for your response! You have to have 8 people in your party to be a magical gathering but they don't have to be adults!! I did look at some reviews and thought the same thing. We ruled out the safari dinner because my brother wasnt interested in that. Most of the reviews said that the dessert and the proximity to the illuminations show was really worth it. Thanks for the info on the breakfast...I called disney and they said the calander for Sept dining wouldn't be avaliable until march 12!.Thanks again for your response and good luck on your vaca!:cheer2:

That is strange because I am positive they said if only 8 in your party they all had to be adults (or classed as adults on disney child/adult pricing - if that makes sense) :goodvibes

I was really looking forward to the illuminations dinner and dessert party but the negative reviews were alot more than positive, and would have to use 2 table service on the ddp so decided against it :sad1:

I know the reviews are really making me think twice also! I am going to call and double check but they gave me a magical gathering number with my reservation and told me any of the MG meals I do I would have to give them that number when I made ressies for that! I will call tomm and post back to you one way or another!! Thanks again for helping me out

You are welcome ... let me know how you get on.

There are eight of us going. I booked all of the meals on the normal number except the grand gathering breakfast as this was a "special" meal.

Still gutted not doing the illuminations dinner but it is 2 TS and those reviews :sad1:

Last year my family did the illuminations grand gathering dinner. It was really neat, we got to try food from all the various countries around epcot...yeah...and got surpise visit from 2 characters and pictures with them. The viewing place for illuminations is AMAZING. I have never seen it before from a better location. Everyone in the family really enjoyed themselves and the grandgathering meal!

We booked the breakfast at Tony's and am very excited about trying it! We had 6 adults and 3 children and it counted as our Grand Gathering.

I would LOVE to try the Safari sometime. Sounds really fun.

Hi everyone Thanks for your replies! Official disney word grand gathering meals are fro parties 8 or more no matter the age as long as there are 8 paying individuals!! Also our party has decided to upgrade to Deluxe dining so that we can do a few of the dinner shows so we will be doing the illuminations dinner. IF nothing else I will enjoy my favorite nightime show in Disney World upclose! Most of the reviews have not been good on the dinner but great on the experience so fingers crossed it's as great experience as they say!! Thanks for all your help!:yay:

the view you will see for illuminations with that dinner is great!! It really is amazing showing of it and the perfect spot to see it.

Hi! I read so many negative reviews of the Illuminations GG that I was hoping to hear something nice about it. It sounds like a fun night and my sister and I (4 adults, 4 kids) have one booked for next month. It looks like a few of you did actually have a good experience! What did you like about it? Would you do it again? Just sounds like a neat experience!! Thanks. Christy
