Could someone tell me what Magical Express is and how it works?

I've seen it mentioned a couple of times on this board but not in any detail. I did see that it has something to do with if your flying...

I'm no expert but here is what I know.
If you are flying into MCO and staying at a Disney resort- You will be provided with free transport from MCO to your resort and free ride back to MCO at the end of your trip.
A nice perk is that you don't have to go to baggage claim and get your bags- Disney will take care of that for you and they will be delivered to your room.
This all begins sometime in May I think.

We just got back on Saturday and saw the "Magical Express" buses. They look almost like the Mears buses say "Magical Express" on each side. Nice perk!

I saw the commercial last night on TV and I remember seeing something in fine print on the bottom and I thought it said minimum night stay of 10 nights. Is this true or was I (hopefully) just seeing things? :teeth:

no minimum nights

there is alot about it on the Transportation Board.

you check in your luggage at airport and you don't need to do anything to it and it will arrive in your room....

all airlines can use this part.

only some airlines will do the following - when it is time to leave - you go to the airline booth close to the front desk - and they will get you your boarding pass and take your luggage - if you airline is not on their list - you need to take your luggage. (you can leave it with bell services until your shuttle comes).

the shuttle will pick you up about 2 hours and 45 minutes before your flight leaves.

Delta is using it - SW is not.

Doesn't 2 hours 45 minutes seem like its a lot of time before hand? How far away is the airport, I thought it was pretty close by?

It is about 45minutes away.

however Orlando is an International Airport - so it is BIG - (go read what is on the tranportation board). 2 hours is the time that is recommend if you have to check in.. (if you didn't check in at the resort - you may need this time) - I have been in line over an hour in MCO checking in....

someone says that WDW doesn't want you to miss your flight.

No.. that is about right, two hours and 45 minutes before your flight leaves. The Orlando International Airport is about I would say 10 or so miles away from Disney grounds. So figure by the time you get their, get checked in, go through baggage, etc. it should work out good. I always go about two hours early because you never know how backed up security check is going to be. And if you have time left over, there are ALOT of stores you can browse in. I really enjoy the sea world gift shop at the airport. Or last trip was delayed eight hours, and we kept busy the whole time in all the stores and arcades :cool1:

What I've gathered is they will pick your luggage up from the airport and deliver it to your hotel for you. You get a free shuttle to your hotel. I guess you and your luggage should arrive about the same time. Then when you go home they take your luggage and check your bags for you and you get a free shuttle to the airport. I think the only acception with us is for Southwest we have to check our bags in on the way home because Southwest doesn't participate in letting Disney check the bags in.

marriedmarylander- Dont forget to pick up your bags once you arrive to MCO. Disney will not be picking them up for you. We are also flying Southwest and were told a few days ago that we need to pick up our own luggage (at the luggage area) and then drop it off(also in the luggage area) near the Disney Character. Then Disney will gather them up and load them. That character will be the one leading the people to the busses. Thought you might want to know this so that you don't end up without your things! :goodvibes

OMg, the Security Line and the check in /Boarding pass line is crazy at MCO. I wish they had curbside checkin like BWI has so u can drop your luggage off there but I dont think they do. If they do I missed it.

We waited in the security line for 35 minutes this past Tuesday. TO chek in, it wss like 25 minutes, so 2 hours is definitely needed.

I inquired many times and was told they take it from the baggage claim for you. It's only on your return flight home that you have to check them in yourself.
