Hi new this this board with post but read all the time. I just called disney to give them my flight info and was told they do not service united airline for the magical express. My understanding was that on the arrival they will pick up all travels and luggage, but on the way home unless we used AA, Delta, or song we would have to check our own luggage for return flights. Not sure what to do. we are staying on site. ::MickeyMo

disney here we come June 05

Welcome to the DIS. :sunny: I lurked for a long time before I started posting as well.

That is interesting about United. I know that it was listed as a participating airline when the program was announced. I think I would call back and try a new CM. ;)

so I take it that they do not do Air Canada? Anyone know? I don't mind having to check my luggage,as I know I have to go through customs, but sure would like to have the transfers free - when I booked I was told $274 for the 3 of us -

The original Magical Express press release listed United and Ted as participating airlines for Resort Airline Check-in.

There are three kinds of United flights serving MCO.

United operates a limited number of flights (primariliy to the West Coast) from MCO. As far as I know, these flights should be eligible for Resort Airline Check-in.

Ted (United's all-coach discount airline) serves Washington-Dulles, Chicago-O'Hare, and Denver from MCO. As far as I know, Ted is still participating in Resort Airline Check-in too.

There are also a number of United codeshare flights operating from MCO. These are actually US Airways flights, and US Airways is not listed as a participating airlines for Resort Airline Check-in. So I assume you can't use Resort Airline Check-in for these "United" flights.

What city were you flying to? Please let us know what happened when you called back.

You still should get ME luggage tags. After you go through customs your bags will go directly to your resort, you won't have to pick them up a second time.

We are flying in from PHL to MCO on USAir (a United codeshare flight) in August. While making resort reservations, I asked to include DME and was told by CM that they don't provide luggage transfers for that airline, not even for arrivals. CM told me that we would have to claim our own luggage and carry it to the bus. That is contrary to everything I've read about DME both here and on WDW pages. I asked CM if he was sure and was told yes. I decided not to make a big deal about it right now. Since travel is still months away, I figure I'll just wait to hear about actual experiences closer to our dates. :hourglass

It seems you reached a misinformed CM. When traveling to WDW, Disney provides luggage transfers regardless of the airline.

Travelling home, you just won't be able to use Resort Airline Check-in because you're on US Airways (even though your flight also has a United Airlines flight number).

I called back and just as many of you have said we are all set. The nice CM took all my flight information and explained the service in great detail. thanks to all of you for your help :cheer2:

Air Canada shares flights with United as well.
So far the last 4 times we've booked with Air Canada it was a United Flight.

well I guess the real clarification will have to come when service starts.
There is certainly confusing information from everyone around, cast members and guests alike.
I was told unless you are flying Delta, Song or United.....you have to schlep your own luggage to the bus on arrival and back with you on departure.
So unless you're flying one of the above listed airlines you are really just getting a free bus ride. No luggage handling (at the airport) provided.
Yes you still get the tags and they will transport & unload luggage from the buses and deliver to your rooms.
It's a shame to me as the complete check through luggage service was the real only attraction to this program.

Kkana,

I'll be flying Westjet from Toronto to MCO in May. I emailed Disney about the ME and got the following reply:

The process for International guest using Disney's Magical Express is as follows:

1.)Guest clears US customs

2.)Guest goes to Disney's Magical Express Desk and gets luggage tags(we currently being told that we can not send these tags to our International guest which is why you have to pick them up at MCO. If you get them sent to your house (processes are always changing)you can put them on after you clear US customs). Please tell your friends this. If they put the tags on before US clearing customs their bags will be pulled by the DME team and may cause them to have a more complicated trip through customs at MCO.

3.)Guest goes to baggage carousel and put luggage tags on bags, guest then puts baggage back on carousel (luggage will then be transferred by Disney's Magical Express agent).

4.)Guest boards Disney's Magical Express .

According to the original press release, the participating airlines are American, Continental, Delta (including Song), and United (including Ted). In addition to these airlines the Meeting Planners' FAQ originally listed Northwest (but Northwest has subsequently been removed). The list could grow in the future. However, this list of carriers only applies to the Resort Airline Check-in feature -- not to the overall Magical Express Service.

When you travel to WDW, the list of participating airlines doesn't come into play at all. You can check your bags from your home airport to your resort room. Unless you need to go through U.S. Customs, you won't see or touch your bags at Orlando International -- regardless of your airline.

When you travel home from WDW, the list of participating airlines only determines whether you can get your boarding pass and check your bags (for domastic flights) at your resort, or whether you have put your bags on the motor coach and check in at the airport.

If a CM gives you different information, ask to speak to a supervisior.

For answers to many questions, see Disney's Magical Express FAQs.
