If we stay at a WDW resort but do not travel with one of their airlines that WDW offers luggage serivce for, can I pick up my own luggage at MCO and then still get the luggage (and myself) to WDW on the Magical Express?

Thanks,

Suzy V.

Flying IN to MCO, the Magical Express will work for anyone flying any airline. You just put the special luggage tags on your luggage and it will be picked up and transported to your resort without you having to do anything.

Flying OUT, if you are not flying one of the listed partner airlines, you won't be able to check your luggage at your resort. You can still take the Magical Express, you will just have to carry your luggage.

If you are flying on a domestic flight, yes. I see Suzy is in Canada ... if you fly out of Canada straight to MCO, then you'd have to pick up your own luggage and go through customs with it.

I'm not sure if after you do that, you can then have the Magical Express folks put it on one of their trucks and have it delivered to your room for you, or if you'd have to just load it on the bus and carry it yourself.

Beginning May 5, 2005, guests of Disney hotels* using Disney's Magical Express service can check
their bags at their hometown airport, bypass baggage claim at Orlando International Airport (OIA)
and board state-of-the-art motor coaches to the Walt Disney World Resort - as their bags "magically"
appear in their room upon check in. The round-trip service, which is available and complimentary
during Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth event (which also begins May 5, 2005), is designed to
give Disney hotel guests the stress-free vacation they want.

How Disney's Magical Express service works

Disney's Magical Express must be booked at least 10 days prior to arrival through disneyworld.com,
Disney Reservation Center by calling 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639) or a travel agent beginning Jan. 2,
2005. The service commences May 5, 2005.

Guests check their specially-tagged luggage at their departure airport.

Upon arrival in Orlando, guests bypass airport baggage claim and go directly to the Disney Airport
Welcome Center.

Guests board state-of-the-art motor coaches that take them to their Disney hotel.

A team of Disney representatives at the airport will pick up guests' luggage and transport it to
their hotel room.

Disney's Magical Express service makes guests' return to OIA hassle-free as well. This convenient
system lets guests flying with participating airlines avoid airport check-in lines by enabling
passengers on domestic flights to check their luggage and receive a boarding pass before ever
departing their Disney hotel. As an added benefit, guests with flight departures later in the day
no longer have to worry about their luggage after they check out of their hotel. They can simply
check their luggage at the Resort Airline Check-in Desk and then enjoy the last day of their stay.

* This service is offered at on-property Disney Resorts for guests departing from Orlando
International Airport, with the exception of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, Shades of Green
and Downtown Disney Resorts. This service is not available for guests arriving to other Central
Florida airports. If you move to an off-property resort, such as Disney's Hilton Head or Vero Beach
Resorts, you will need to arrange for your own transportation back to the airport.

I know that this has probably been posted elsewhere but I hope to get a fast reply. When does the Magical Express "free" ride end? Friend are going in August and I was wondering if it was till free then?

My guess is they're running it as long as the Celebration is going on....

The Walt Disney Company yesterday announced “The Happiest Celebration on Earth,” which marks the 50th anniversary of Disneyland, with the introduction of new shows and attractions at all of its 10 Disney theme parks.

The 18-month-long promotion begins May 5, 2005, and includes a three-month move of its Disney Magic cruise ship from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Los Angeles.

Departing Toronto we clear customs before we board the plane. Therefore when the plane arrives at MCO it is considered a domestic flight. I believe it the same from other Canadian cities

If that is the case you should be able to use the behind-the-scenes-luggage-transfer feature of the Magical Express the same as all domestic US flights.
