Magical Express

Can someone explain how magical express works for the trip home? We used it last year, but our airline didn't participate.....this year it does. I'm not sure how it works ......and whether or not I should actually "trust" that our luggage will get where it needs to go.

I have used Magical Express 3 times and have had no problems with it. I have also use resort check in with Delta and Untied. I have had no problems with it, my bags always were there wihen I with to claim thiem. I really like it, to know that I have checked my bags and received my boarding passes and don't have to worry about it. Plus once you get to the airport you can go directly to security if you want to. It is alot easy to do resort check in, and not have to haul my luggage to the airport. Resort airline check in, can be use wether or not you use majical express. I will definitely use it again next time, this coming May.

You can still use Magical Express the same way you did last year, bringing all your baggage to the bus going back to the airport.

For participating airlines you may bring baggage to the airline check in desk in the resort lobby between approximately 5 AM and 2 PM and it is supposed to be at least four hours in advance of your flight time. Occasionally you might be permitted to check baggage on shorter notice.

You need to be ready to board the bus back to the airport 15 minutes before the time printed on your confirmation. Being in the baggage check line does not count.

As of two weeks ago, the time of baggage drop off is three hours before your flight departure. So...here's the how to for you....
let's say your flight is at 11:00 am (and of course, it is a participating airline). If you are using DME, you will most likely get a pickup time of about 8:00ish, give or take 20 mins either way. As for checking your bags....I like to get rid of my bags as early as humanly possible. So, I would be at the RAC desk, in the lobby of the resort, by 6:30ish. There, you will be able to check in for everyone in your family....at least that is what I have heard. Your bags will be tagged with the appropriate airline tags, you will be issued your boarding passes for your group. I have yet to have any issues with sending my bags through them....worked like a charm every time.
Be sure to be at the DME bus stop 15 mins before your designated pickup time. That time is the 'departure' time, not the time you should show up!!!

We flew on AirTran a few weeks ago and did things the way the posters above stated. Everything went very smoothly and our bags got to FNT when we did.
