Magical Express

Used it two weeks ago out on NYC. Arrived at MCO about 1PM and the luggage did not show up till about 5pm, and only because I kept calling baggage in BCV. It was close to 100 degrees when we arrived and we had jeans on which really made it a problem. Next time we will bring a change of clothes or bathing suit in carry - on to at least sit by the pool.

FYI Magical Express is actually run by MEARS. That should say it all. I found this out when we reallized our son's disney pins were missing from the luggage when we returned to NYC. I had called them and the CSR told me that ME was a privately run company, separate from Disney. They indicated they may to start charging next year for the service.

But it really depends on what TSA does regarding future carryons. Hope they don't do what was done in the UK, banning all carry-ons.
A couple months ago Disney signed a contract to keep it free til at least 2008. After that who knows.

PS. I thought a standard rule was to always have a change of clothes in a carry on. At least that is what the wife says.

Yep - Your wife is absolutely right. Always have at least one days clothing in your carryon plus a bathing suit if you might want to use the pool. Until your luggage is in your hands you never know when it will arrive DME or not.

We know now. We always carried on our own luggage in the past. I never saw the 1-3 hour info and will not make that mistake again. Way it is going we may be only able to wear bathing suits on the planes now anyway.

Did you contact MEARS re. the missing pins?
Now that we can't lock our luggage, I guess it makes it even harder to get our "stuff" home after a trip to WDW.
I think I will just start shipping a box home every trip!

Yes had a long conversation with MEARS. They gave me a claim number and said we will call you if they ever show up. I then filed a claim with TSA since MEARS was a dead end, but at least their lost and found did not have it.

You can use TSA approved luggage locks, however you can bet I will never put anything in luggage worth more than a tub of toothpaste - can't put that in carry-on anymore either.

As Chernoff said, better safe than sorry. Just sorry I don't live within driving range - 70% of disney visitors are with in driving range. Would also make the trip a lot cheaper.

Good idea; I'll get the TSA locks for our next trip. We had been using the hi-tech approach--close up the suitcase with twisties :rolleyes2
My worst nightmare would be going on a trip, taking the laptop/ipods/cameras, then getting to the airport and being told we couldn't carry them on anymore.
