This year we will have our one year old daughter with us and my sister will have her three month old son. Both will still be in car seats. What do you do about car seats on Magical Express? Is there a way to strap their car seats in? This will be our first year with a car seat and it sounds like such a pain BUT we can't wait to take our daughter!

There's no way to install car seats on the ME buses since there aren't any seatbelts.

You won't even be allowed to take the car seats on the bus with you...the driver will stow them beneath the bus. Children are not allowed to use car seats on the buses.

well that settles that. So do we just hold our children then? This is the first year for us with kids. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure there are tie downs on the roof. If not, they can always ride under the bus with the luggage.

I kid, I kid. Yes, you hold your children. Not to be snarky, but what else would you do with them?? Lol.

actually, the infant (and the 1yo, depending on her size/type of carseat) can ride in their carseats if they are the "bucket" type w/the handle... you cannot tie the seats down, but they can be placed on the seat (rear-facing) next to you... the carseat will be used as a carrier in this instance, not a carseat...

you can also do the same w/carseats on the Disney buses to/from parks if you opt to...

I shouldn't laugh, but, that was GOOD!!! LOL

car seats are NOT allowed on DME and I doubt anyone carries a car seat to the parks.

really?!? are you familiar w/the type of carseat i am referring to? the part we carried was not the part that buckles in to the car, it snaps on/off a base and/or a stroller...

when we took our six month old, we would unsnapp it (w/baby in it) from the stroller, fold the stroller down and carry baby on/off buses to/from parks (if he was awake we would take him out and have dh hold the stroller, me hold the baby and one of our teenaged children hold the empty carseat... we took him to restaurants in the seat so he could sleep while we ate... and yes, we took him on DME in it...

Of course they do. most infant car seats can be used as a carrier and also snapped into the stroller. That's how 95% of people with infants transport them.

So, in the instance the poster was referring to it would be an infant carrier, not a car seat, right? How stable/safe is it as a quasi car seat on a bus or whatever without it being strapped in?

The OP would still need to hold on to it, but she will not need to remove the baby from the seat to get on the bus. She probably does have to store the base underneath the bus, though.

Not stable. Not safe. Terrifying and heavy projectile were there to be a crash. Hold the baby on the bus, or better yet get an Ergo and wear the baby (mainly thinking of intra-park transport not the coach buses of DME here for comfort's sake).

I wouldn't recommend having an infant in a carrier not secured to its base in any moving vehicle. Definitley not safe.

Thanks!

I did not think it was safe at all, but, I had to ask and I learned something new.
