Were you flying on Delta? This is what happened to us?
Our early flight out of Oklahoma City was CANCELLED! We got a call at 3:27 pm on Monday from Delta Airlines, saying that because of mechanically problems, our flight had been cancelled. I was at my mom's house when the call came through. She handed the phone to me and the agent gave me very limited information. I had to ask HER for information, as far as where the connecting city was because I knew it wouldn't be a non-stop flight.
Anyway, I got the information from the agent, and then told my mom that we needed to call our
travel agent, as that's how we had booked the trip. My mom was so upset talking to the travel agent, she had to pass me the phone. I gave our travel agent the information that we had gotten from Delta. They had us on a 3:12 flight from Oklahoma City to Cincinnati then to Orlando, not getting to Orlando until 9:12 pm. Delta should have called our agent and let them know of the cancellation and not put us on another flight. That's what our travel agent is for. Carrie said she would take care of it for us and call us right back. She called Delta and gave them grief from what I understood. When Carrie didn't call back within 30 minutes, we called her back and she gave us the new flight information. Carrie told us that we would be flying on American Airlines. We would have to go to the Delta ticket counter and have our tickets stamped to get the okay to fly on American. Carrie said that since Delta cancelled the flight, and we were flying on American, that Delta was going to have to eat the cost of us switching airlines. So our new flight was on American leaving Oklahoma City at 6:50 am (our original flight was on Delta leaving at 5:30 am). Our connecting city was Dallas, then on to Orlando. Carrie said that we would be leaving Oklahoma City about an hour or so later, but we would be getting in Orlando about an hour earlier than if we had flown on Delta because we didn't have the long layover if we would have flown on Delta. Anyway, we left home headed for the airport around 3 in the morning. Took the car to an off airport parking place, and was shuttled over to the airport. We went to the Delta ticket counter and had our tickets stamped and went to the American ticket counter and got checked in. Apparently Tobi, not everyone got the call about the flight cancellation. The agents were going throught the line letting everyone know about the cancellation. We told the agent going through the line that we'd already been rebooked on another airlines. He was like, 'Ya'll are good!' Thank God we HAD gotten the call about the cancellation.
