magical express-take cases ourselves or not

when i booked ME for sep 2009 I called disney uk and had them add it they asked for my flight numbers airline and arrival time.

This year however they only wanted my airline and flight number as they said that arrival times can change with delays etc so they use flight tracking now and adjust the amount of buses in accordance with that. Ok well that was what the very nice disney lady told me.

I have read this thread and am a little bit confused. My dad has got it in to his head we can get off the plane, go through customs and get straight on the bus without even seeing our luggage till we are at the hotel. But after reading this im guessing we pick our bags up before/after customs, then leave them somewere for ME to take to the hotel??

You do have to collect your luggage after customs. After that you can put it on the secondary carousel and take your baggage reclaim tags (usually stuck to the reverse of your ticket/boarding pass) to ME and let them do the rest. Did you click on the link to the MCO page in my post#9 on the first page of this thread? It shows you exactly how it is. I posted it for first timers because it is basically a photo walk through of all the steps. Just shout if you are still confused.

After you clear immigration you have to take your bags with you through customs.

If however you are flying indirect you will clear customs & immigration at your first stop in the USA in which case when you get to MCo you could go straight to the ME desk.

Another thing to remember is that your cases may not arrive altogether. When we went for our wedding my grandparents left their 2 cases to be sorted by Disney. One arrived by about 8pm, the other one didnt arrive until 1am!

if you are planning on using ME put some stuff in your hand luggage.when we did it we took our first days cloths, toothbrush and swimwear.just in-case they didn't tun up

I'm definitely a self case taker!

I'd worry about them until they turned up otherwise.

And as we won't be at the resort until gone 6, and probably ready for a bath at 9 and bed at 10 I would definitely want all my stuff there and unpakced by then.

Yes, you don't want to jump out of the bath/shower and discover you need to make a trip to the gift shop for toothpaste before your clothes have arrived.
