Okay y'all, I am probably making this WAY more complicated than it actually is... But is this one tag or two?

When we got them in the mail, I thought it was two. But I just took them out to put them on my bag and the instructions have me a little freaked out because it says, "do not cut the tags" but if it is two, you have to cut them! We leave Saturday so there's no way I'm getting more in time if this is actually just one.

It's one. You wrap it around the luggage handle and fasten the ends together. You get one tag per person.
Well, crap. So then I guess my next question is, are we allowed to collect our bags ourselves and take them to the bus?

If they're tagged with the Disney tags, they won't come out at baggage claim: they'll be diverted before that to Disney baggage handling. If you want to collect your own luggage, don't put Magical Express tags on them. You can take your bags to the bus- they'll be stored under the bus during the ride. If you need more tags, call & ask Disney. Maybe they'll send more.

Yes, what Alesia said. If you want, and are on a flight during the time period of, the luggage delivery service, tag one bag and give the luggage claim tag for the other to the DME people.

Word of advice, keep the claim tickets for the bags WITHOUT yellow ME tags separate, or note which ones they are.
It will make the life of the CM at the counter easier
I neglected to do this and when I got there I realized we had 6 bags and I had no clue which one they needed to find at baggage claim and which ones were tagged already.
The only solution was for them to record all the claim tickets.
If I had just asked the bag agent when we checked in to put the sticker for the bag without the yellow tag separate it would have saved time and trouble.

Worth noting, we got our bag without the ME tags earlier than the bag with them. Probably just a coincidence and likely to be totally opposite if we ever do it that way again.

Yes, PPs are correct. You can either give the baggage claim tickets for the bags without the yellow tags to DME when you get to the airport. They'll locate them and deliver them to your room with the ones that do have yellow tags. Or, you can leave the yellow tags off all of your bags and collect them at the baggage carousel yourself as you would at any other airport. A warning, though, if you decide to collect your own bags - most flights arrive in the opposite concourse as DME. You may have to go down to baggage claim and then walk across the airport with your bags to get to DME. We've also found that the baggage carousel at MCO is beyond slow. So I would add an extra 30-45 minutes at the airport for this when you arrive.

You can get more than one luggage tag per person. Just contact DME and they will send more. You do need to know far enough in advance to have them send the tags.

Yeah, when they checked our bags in, they didn't tell us which tickets were for which bag. I figured it would probably make the CM's life super difficult if we said, "I don't know which one of these doesn't have the yellow ME tag," so we ended up just grabbing that bag ourselves. It was a small bag so it wasn't a big deal. Of course it was on the baggage claim on the opposite side of the airport from ME, but I didn't want to make the CM's life more difficult due to my not reading the instructions/not realizing I needed more luggage tags sooner!
