I know this was on a SOG thread recently, maybe last wk?, but I can't find it!

Anyway, someone who had stayed @ SOG the wk before posted that he had been told that SOG would soon be participating in Magic Express, that they were setting up a desk in the lobby, there was a banner over it announcing it. Since we're going in Sept, I emailed SOG yesterday and this is the response I got:

Ms Milam,

I just took a walk through the lobby of the resort and there is no
construction started on any such desk. After some research, I did find out
a desk may eventually be placed in the lobby area for Hertz rental cars.
Magical Express will not be offered to Shades of Green guests. Again, I
apologize for the inaccurate information that has been passed along to you.

Kindest Regards,

Erin

Has anyone else gotten any info on this? I was all excited at the thought of not having to pay to get 5 people from the airport to the hotel!

That is a shame- I thought I read that too here that Magical Express might be starting there~ but I am not sure if ME will last past the 50th Celebration anyway... :confused3

I found the original post! It was on 5/9 by MikeL1515. Hoping someone has more information for us so we know for sure. I'm really curious to know what the airline sign was over the desk that the OP saw.

My understanding is that it will, but more than likely, you'll be paying for it if you want to use it. :(

BAGS, Inc, the company that does the resort checkin part of ME, has said they're working with SOG but that doesn't mean it'll be part of ME or that it'll be free.

I doubt Disney would let them use ME without paying for it and I don't think SOG has a budget to add services without billing for it. I think, if they start offering airport service it won't be called ME, won't be free EVEN IF they use ME buses.

Did you happen to see the new military code that is out? 30-40% off rack rates. August 1-October 4. We are going in September, and cancelled our SOG reservations. Staying at Poly and Beach Club and we now have the Magical Express !! :cool1:

is that only for active duty on R & R or is it open to anybody that qualifies for SOG? I did call ME last night, talked to a CM who really didn't know anything. He did say they've only been open a few days, which I didn't realize, and haven't even had a chance to evaluate the existing service. I also asked if there was a lengh of stay requirement at any of the disney hotels and he said no. He said you can stay at any Disney hotel for the first night and the last night, with SOG in the middle, and qualify for ME. I'll search for the other discount. Thanks.

As far as I know it is for Active Military and reservists. Call The Disney reservations and give them the code.
EXJ 1-6 days 30% Off Rack Rates
EXK 7 days or more 40% off Rack Rates

What I saw...
In the lobby to the right of Registration, there is an desk set up, not a makeshift desk, a nice check-in desk with a hanging sign above it it that says 'airline something' I can't remember exactly. And on the Desk there is a white laminated sign from a computer that says something like 'this area is for your future enjoyment' Also, I have seen the ME buses on SOG property a couple of times during my stay.

I never said ME was going to be offered at SOG, I have no idea if it ill ever be offered, I am just telling you what I saw.

We were just there last week. The desk being referred to is to the right of the main checkin desk, and is a bell desk where you can use BAGS, Inc. to express check in for your flight. There is a charge for the service (I believe $10/adult, and there was something about not paying for a child flying with an adult, I believe). We didn't take utilize the service, as we were flying SW (who didn't offer it) and I just went to the lobby and checked in online at 12:01 am, so I was set from that standpoint.

thanks for the info about ME and the codes for military rates at the other resorts. I'm thinking now I'll cancel SOG and get 2 rms at a value. We're a family of 5 so it's either that or one rm at POR, which would be really a tight fit. It's about $45 more but I'm saving over $100 with ME so I still come out ahead. Now I just need to decide WHICH value to switch to!

Don't forget that SoG is also tax-free, if that will factor at all into your decision!

I've never stayed in a Value, but from everything I've read, Pop Century far outweighs the others. Have fun on your trip!
