I just want to clarify that I have this right. We are flying home on a non-participating airline. When we leave, we just take our luggage with us on the magical express bus and check it ourselves? Thanks!

In a word ... yup!

Take your luggage to the bus, the driver will load it under the bus for you. When you get to the airport, the driver will unload the luggage for you. Tip appropriately. Then take your luggage to your airline's ticket counter, just like you'd do at any other airport.
