Hello All-
Can you sign up for magical express just for luggage. We will be renting a car but it would be sooooo much easier not to have to worry about our bags-I can rent a smaller car that way also. Anyone do this? Thanks

nope, or at least that's what i've heard... no unaccompanied luggage permitted... a way around this would be to check all bags in one of your names and have the other pick up/drive the car while one takes the DME... see who gets to the resort first ;)

If you don't take the bus they will not transport your luggage. They scan a voucher so they know if you are on the bus. If you still want to rent a car you could rent one at the Car Care center on property or the Dolphin once you are at your resort after taking the bus from the airport. On your return to MCO you can have DME transport your luggage if your airline is a participating one.

I suggest you do a search on the transportation board and you will find lots of information about DME.

I have the same problem.

We're just going to rent cars at the airport anyway, as L&M seems reasonable since we're there for a week +.

The water parks, and dinners at the other resorts are so much easier to get to with a car.

I like to take a bunch of junk with me (towels, extra clothing, water bottles, extra sunscreen, googles, etc.) when I go to the water parks too. This is MUCH easier with a car.

I can also save a bunch picking up snacks, breakfast stuff, soda, milk, etc. with a car. I know you can get delivery, but that's from expensive store, and there is an additional fee.

Having a couple of cheap rentals for our group makes sense logistically.

The answer to your question about "Magical Express just for luggage" is no for inbound and yes for outbound.

The FAQ from Disney explains that you cannot use the inbound Magical Express luggage transfers if you're not using the Magical Express motor coach transportation. They enforce this by not releasing your luggage from the airport until you are scanned onto the motor coach.

There's better news for your return trip. The FAQ from Disney explains that if your airline participates in Resort Airline Check-in, you can get your boarding pass and check your luggage all the way to your home airport -- regardless of what transporation you are using to get to the airport.

24 days till our trip...should I have received our luggage tags & stuff by now? This will be our first use of ME

The official word from Disney is that they send the DME materials out 21 days prior to your departure. Even though some here have received the DME stuff earlier than that, I think you're just fine.
