Can you tell me where we go at MCO to meet up with ME? Also, does anyone know if Delta is one of the airlines that you can check in at the resort? I'm a little nervous about doing that, wanting to make sure the bags arrive back home with us on the same plane.

Thanks in advance.

When you get off the plane, you will be told where to go to get on ME. If flying Southwest, the pick up area is right behind them! It is so cool to see the cast members welcoming you to Disney World! They will ask you which resort, then they will tell you what line to get into. Just so easy, don't worry!!

Delta is one of the contributing airlines. Here is the official word about DME. The following is quoted material.

- Pack any valuables and/or medication into a carry-on bag because you might not have immediate access to your luggage when you arrive in Orlando.

- Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, please visit the Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center. The Welcome Center is located on the B side of the airport on Level One. Please keep your Airport Transportation Booklet handy as you will need to present it at the Welcome Center.

**If you do not receive the booklet prior to departure or you are traveling within the next 10 days, please locate a Disney's Magical Express representative upon arrival to the Orlando International Airport, and they will assist you.

These Cast Members will be positioned on Level 2 (Baggage Claim) at the airport. They will be wearing blue blazers, and will be able to take your claim check numbers and a description of the luggage. They will claim it for you and have it sent to your resort.

Lower level terminal "B", all the way to the end of the rental car level. There are signs.

My DH was really worried about checking our luggage in at ASMu for our flight back to the West Coast this summer. We checked 2 large bags in and they did arrive in LA with us later that night.

Dana....everything you need to know about DME is in that info packet you will get. They send them out about a month or so before travel. If you book your DME reservation less than two weeks before travel, you may not get the packet with the luggage tags.
The packet will tell you exactly how to get to the DME checkin desk..it's very easy, it will give you the list of current participating airlines for the resort checkin process.
I have used the resort checkin system several times and my bags have been there, at my home airport when I got there. I have yet to have any problems with DME and I've used them about 4-5 times to date.

To tag on, can anyone say how many hours before your scheduled flight Magical Express requires you to meet at the hotel?

Hi Dana

We have used ME many times. It works great. We always do the airline checkin at the resort. We have flown Delta from Logan and never have any issues with the luggage. It is a great service

Another DME fan here...only our preferred airlines isn't a participating airline, so we can't check bags at the resort prior to departure...but in the process of learning about that service, here's what we discovered that you might find helpful:

1. There are limited hours where you can go check your bags in ... as I recall, you can do this no later than 3 hours prior to depature (that part might be wrong)...AND, the airline check-in desk is only open from around 5 or 6 a.m. til 1 (or maybe 2) in the afternoon...so if you have an early flight, you may not be able to use the service even if your airline participates (that happened to me one year when I used United instead of USAir in order to use the DME return service...our flight was at 6:30 a.m.--the check-in desk wasn't open the morning we left (early enough), and it didn't stay open long enough the day before to allow us to use it, either...

2. If you can use it, it's worth it! DME drops you off at the lowest level, mid-terminal (we always are at the B terminal, not sure how the A terminal works)...so that means schlepping your bags from where DME drops you off up to the ticketing level, and then down to your airline (USAir is all the way at the end of that hallway...it's a looooong way to go hauling suitcases!)...since I use curb-side check-in on the way to WDW, and DME delivers my luggage to my resort, that trip to the airlines ticket counter hauling my suitcases always makes me wish for DME's return service!

I suspect there's no more risk of "losing" your luggage w/DME handling it than there is if you check it yourself at the airport...lost luggage is just a risk of air travel these days...

As another poster noted, DME check-in is on the lowest level (3rd) of the B terminal...very easy to find, very easy to check in...

All in all, DME is one of the best services Disney has ever devised!

Happy travels!

Do you know if continental airlines participates? Last time we used SW, and I don't think they did.

I'm sorry, I don't know about Continental...I know United/Ted participates and that USAir does not...beyond that I don't know...I'm pretty sure you can find it on the website that explains DME, tho...good luck!

Hi!
Continental is one of the preferred airlines and we used the resort check in for our trip this past August and it was GREAT! no lugging huge suitcases through MCO!! Our bags were one of the first off the plane in Cleveland! This is the 3rd time we've used ME and it's been wonderful!

Can you use ME on your return trip home if you don't use it for arrival? What happens if I check my luggage for ME for return and miss the transportation to the airport. I know I would be responsible for my transportation to the airport.... but would my bags still get to the airport with ME?

Yes. If you decide you want a ride to MCO via DME once you get to WDW, you can arrange it at the resort. Just do it a day or so before you leave.
You do not have to ride DME in order to check your bags at the resort. This is not a true part of DME. It is all lumped together, but many who are renting cars or taking towncars back to the airport have used this service (RAC) many times. As long as you are flying one of the participating airlines, you can check your bags at the resort and get your boarding passes. The RAC desk opens about 5 am, and you have to be able to check in with them 3 hrs before your flight leaves. So..if you have a flight anytime before 8:30 or so, you're out of luck. The desk closes at 1 pm but I'm not absolutely sure how far in advance you can check your bags..perhaps 6 hrs, but I could very well be wrong.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone know how early you can check your bags? I have an evening flight.
