Magical Express question

If you do not take the Magical Express Bus, will your luggage still show up at the resort?

I am renting a car, but wouldn't mind sending luggage to our room upon arrival.

Upon departure, I know you can check your bags at the resort for Delta flights (without taking DME bus back), so I don't have to deal with the bags then.

Has anyone ever done this? It seems like they can't possibly have time to cross-check who took the bus to the bags going on to the resort...

Am I wrong?

If you don't get on the bus your luggage doesn't go to the resort. They scan your pass when you get on the bus. DME is not a luggage service but a transportation service for you and your luggage.

Generally speaking, DME will transport any checked items that your airline transports as checked items. So if you paid the airline extra to check four pieces of luggage for yourself, DME will transport all of it for you. Since almost everyone limits themselves to what the airlines allow "for free," and since almost all airlines limit you to two "free" checked pieces per person, DME sends you two DME luggage tags per person. If you need more, you can request them and they'll be sent to you.
