I've read about some problems with luggage tags not arriving and luggage lost or delivered late to rooms. Is it better to get your own luggae before boarding the bus?

From my experience I would say yes if you're arriving on a later flight. My flight came in at 9:00pm, but my luggage didn't arrive until 2:30 am and yes, the luggage deliverer knocked on my door to wake me to get my luggage from them at 2:30am. It made me wish I had went ahead and gathered my luggage myself. I don't think it would be so bad if your flight gets in before 5pm.

We went last week and used Magical Express. We had no problem at all. We arrived around 5:00 pm and our luggage was delivered to our rooms by 8:00 pm with no problems. On the return home, you take your own bags to the Magical Express bus stop and drop them off and they load them onto the bus. I thought the service was good...but I was very nervous about my luggage. Thank goodness I had a good experience.

My DH, & 2 DS's went in January and we used the Magical Express and it was fine. We had to wait a while at the airport because the line at the desk was very long to check in and the lines to the buses were also very long but we were at our hotel 1 1/2 hours after we landed. We checked in, the kids went swimming, and then we went to MK because our room wasn't ready yet. We came back a few hours later and our room was ready with our bags waiting inside. Then when we were leaving we brought our luggage down to the desk at 11:00 am and they checked it like they do at the airline and we spent the day at one of the parks, came back in time to catch the ME bus and when we landed in NY our bags were there waiting for us. We are going back to VWL in 25 days and we are using ME again. Town cars cost 65-75 $ so why pay when they offer a great service for free. I would recommend the service. Good luck! :cheer2:

We had no problems using ME. I would suggest that if you have a late flight, pack a carry on bag with pj's, bathing suit, and one outfit for each person in your party, when checking in just ask them to hold your checked bags at the front desk rather than have them arrive at your room in the middle of the night. This way you still have pj's for sleeping, bathing suit for a late swim, and an outfit for the morning. They can deliver the bags in the morning.

We are going to wdw in 36 days and we are using ME. We are told that we don't get the luggage tags until 2 weeks before we leave. We booked through an agent and i am just a little nervouse that it won't come in time. :scratchin What do i do if they don't come? :confused3

I was getting a little nervous too, but sure enough, about 10 days before our trip, our ME package arrived with the luggage tags. I would say if you don't get them by the 8 day mark, call up, I am sure they could overnight them to you if necessary.

We used ME with out any problems this past Novemember. We didn't use the luggage tags. We actually carried our luggage with us to the ME bus as we had our bathing suits and my ds' nebulizer in the luggage and didn't want to wait for our luggage to be delivered. It wasn't a problem at all.

No worries. You can still use the full spectrum of DME services even without the DME tags. If you want your luggage delivered to you, still skip baggage claim, and when you go to check in at the DME Welcome Center just tell them your bags aren't tagged; they'll ask for your baggage claim ticket numbers and also show you a photo chart and ask you to identify your type of luggage. A CM (or a subcontractor from BAGS Inc.) will go to baggage claim, claim your bags for you, and put them with the rest of the DME bags to be delivered.

DME or not, this was a very risky way to travel by air. What if the AIRLINE delayed your luggage??? No matter where I fly, I always take supplies for the first 24 hours in my carry-on. You'd be surprised how very little room this takes up, especially with warm weather clothes. I'm sorry, I just can't imagine leaving my kids' nebulizer and Xopenex at the mercy of the airlines. What if one of them needs it NOW???

When I used DME in its first few days, we really didn't care when our luggage arrived, because we packed appropriately in our carry-ons (wife, me, 5 year old, 2.5 year old). We don't know exactly when our lugagge arrived because we were in the pool enjoying the start of our vacation, rather than nervously waiting around for our luggage. Change of clothes, swimsuits, meds, PJs, some diapers, toiletries, nebulizer -- like I said, it's surprising how little room that takes up. I'm not being critical of what anyone did in the past, I'm just trying to warn others in the future who might not be experienced air travelers. It was on the front page of AOL last week that airlines misdirect 10,000 bags A DAY. I've been flying a lot for the past 16 years -- trust me, it doesn't just happen to "other people," it's happened to me and I've learned the hard way to be prepared with appropriately packed carry-ons.

I called and spoke to a CM yesterday about the luggage tags. We are going to Disney April 12-18 and she said we should expect something about 2 weeks before. She said they wait till the last minute just incase the flights are changed??

I didn't quite understand that? Do they put your flight info on the luggage tags???

This is our first time going to Disney.

Thanks

enjoy the DME while you can folks, it's a fantastic service and I really cannot believe that disney offers it for free. BTW, they might start charging for it in 2007 :)
