Good morning dissers:) I have a quick question for you experts out there... *hopefully* :goodvibes I will be visiting WDW again Nov. 2011 with my parents and my youngest son. My mom will need to rent a scooter (mutliple health issues) and at this point in time she cannot walk unless she uses her walker or canes. We would all like to fly since we're a good 14 hours from the world, but she doesn't think she will be able to climb/descend the steps on the magical express bus. Does Disney have any other airport accomodations for disabled folks who can't climb the stairs, or are we on our own?

I'm sure this is more info than anyone cares to read, but I'll share anyway because I'm sooo excited! My family and I (DH, kids, mom and dad) all visited WDW for the very first time back in Nov 05. My mom had lots of knee/leg problems but wanted to try walking for as long as she could. This took all of 2hours at AK on our very first day and we rented a wheelchair. She used a wheelchair for the entire trip. Well, we all caught the Disney bug. So the next year we went back again, minus DH, and mom rented a scooter from Scootarama. Great choice!! However, on the trip she had moments where she wasn't feeling so great. A few months later, she was diagnosed the colon cancer, went through treatment, had major surgery, and 3 years later is still cancer free :yay:

She ended up having knee AND hip replacement on the same leg a couple of years ago, and still hasn't made a full recovery. Now she has been diagnosed with a heart condition, but hopefully she will be treated with meds and will not need surgery. So why am I telling you all of this? Because another trip to WDW is what is motivating her this up coming year to work her leg, be more active (which the doctors have always told her to do anyway), and try to get her life back on track again!!!!!! I tell her that if she doesn't do it for anyone else, DO IT FOR DISNEY :thumbsup2 My parents loved their past 2 disney trips and can't wait to make another, so we're planning, which is my favorite part

Thanks for listening :grouphug:

Yes
Can't post much rightnow, but they have wheelchair accessible buses with lifts at the back. She can borrow a wheelchair to go ip in the lift, then transfer to a regular seat.
Not all buses are lift equipped, so you may have wait a little longer to get one that is if you have not arranged ahead of time. Also, you will need to stop at the desk to talk to the CMs at yhe airport, you can't just get into the line.
