Does any know if DME provides luggage service for late flight arrivals? My wife and I do not get into MCO until a little after 11:30PM.

When we were there in Febriary our flight landed at 11:45 and we had no problem with DME. They were there waiting for us as well as plenty of other people landing at that time of night. There were at the very least 6 buses lined up for the different resorts to pickup guests. Our bus only had about 7 people on it and 3 of them were my family so it should be a nice quiet ride for you. Enjoy.:goodvibes

They no longer provide luggage service for flights arriving after 10 PM. This was effective March 30, 2009.

If you tag your bags and you arrive before 10pm, DME will move your bags for you. But in your case, they won't be open. You will have to get your own bags from baggage claim. If you tag them with the yellow DME tags, you won't get them until the next day.

No, you will need to pull your own bags and bring them with you to the bus.

So are they allowing you to "forget" your bags after 10pm and storing them and delivering the next day?? Or are they insisting you trudge to baggage claim and get them.

I haven't been watching this lately and just wondering.

Hmmm, can't say for sure. I would imagine that if the DME workers go home for the night, there may be no one left, behind the scenes, to grab those tagged bags. So they may very well just go to baggage claim carousels. Good point. I hadn't really thought the whole process through.

The purpose of getting rid of late night DME delivery is to save on staffing. AFAIK there are no DME luggage people working after hours. That means luggage you don't pick up will wind up going to the airlines unclaimed luggage office. DME does check those offices for bags. The issue would be liability if your bags are lost. The passengers wouldn't be making a claim prior to leaving MCO and DME won't be making a claim.

It's a shame DME doesn't offer the option to hold the bags at MCO until the next morning.
