magical express luggage service

Our plane arrives at 7:25pm so I was planning on getting our own luggage so that I could unpack that night and be all set and ready to go the next morning. Some people have posted that doing so will delay us getting to the resort. My question is; if I don't care what time we get there (we wouldn't try and do anything anyway), but want to be able to unpack that night is getting our own luggage the way to go?

Also, I read that depending on if you get dropped off at A or B it could take longer. I don't really care if takes a little longer as long as it is explanatory as to where to go - can anyone tell me if it is?

Thanks for your help!

Only 3 more weeks to we see Tigger!!!!

Based on your timetable, that would work well.

Let me see if I can explain the A & B.

Orlando airport is on three levels.

Level 3 is the arrivals level and you can reach both side A & B from that level.
Level 2 is the baggage claim level and you cannot reach both sides from that level.
Level 1 is the transportation level and you cannot reach both sides from that level.

When you arrive, if they tell you your baggage claim is on Side B, no problem, proceed to Side B, Level 2, get your bags, then go straight downstairs to Side B, Level 1 and go to the DME desk.

If they tell you your baggage claim is on Side A, then go to Side A, Level 2, get your bags, then go BACK UPSTAIRS to Level 3, cross over to Side B, then go all the way down to Level 1 and go to the DME desk.

If you would let us know what airlines you are traveling on I can tell you the side, A or B, you will end up on in the terminal.

It took me awhile to figure out the layout of MCO. But, this is how I think of it now, and then how I explain it to people. If you have an X, then flop it over on it's side....the top two points are Side A, the bottom two points are Side B. Each one of those 'points' is connected to specific gate areas via a monorail type shuttle. So, if you are arriving on JetBlue for instance, you would arrive on the upper right point (am I remembering the correctly??). You would hop on the shuttle monorail, get off and you would arrive at the central, main area of MCO. If you have decided to get your own luggage, you will have to head down to level 2 of Side A...that's the time consumer if you are using DME. After you retrieve your bags, you then go back up to level 3, of Side A. If you have allowed DME to handle your luggage, there is no need to do this. So, you have either retrieved your own luggage, or you have just arrived in the center of the terminal with only your carryon....you need to head to Side B, the bottom two points of the flopped over X. Head down to level 1, via the escalators, elevator or stairway. If you have used the bottom right escalator, you will need to go down the terminal area at the bottom of the escalator to the right, way down. That's where DME is located. You will pass the car rental counters.

This may sound confusing...it really isn't. When you get your DME info packet, they have a pretty decent map, with instructions in it for finding DME. MCO is pretty easy to navigate once you see how it's laid out.
