HI! I arrive on 12/23 at in the evening (before 8pm). We have always pulled our luggage before we ride the magical express. My DH doesn't want to drag all the bags on the bus this time. How long should we expect until the bags get to our room in the Poly? I know the time frame Disney gives but I was looking for others experiences. We have tags for the bags they sent us.

Just trying to decide what we will need in our carry ons etc.

Thanks!

Luggage delivery is usually around 3 hours after you check into your resort. Based on the average ME arrival time of 90 minutes after your plane arrives, you could expect your luggage to show up well after midnight. During heavy periods like Christmas, this time gets pushed back another hour or so. If you don't want to sit up until after 1 am, either claim your own bags, or stop by luggage Services when you get to the resort and ask them to hold your bags until morning.

I've wsited over six hours. That was the one and only time I haven't gotten my own bags. Mich rather know where they are and get them to the room immediately.

I have used the luggage delivery feature many times but I have never been in the room when they were delivered so can't actually answer your question. I will say that we love skipping baggage claim, skipping check in (using online check in) and heading to the parks. We have always returned to the room in the early evening and our bags were waiting.

Since I always pack 24 hours of necessities in my carryon in case of any type of luggage issue (airline or DME) I don't stress about this. In fact if my airline misdirects my bags I would rather Disney do the tracking than having to wait at baggage claim and do it myself. (Just did this in Detroit and it was a hassle!)

The email I just got for my upcoming trips says to expect the bags to arrive up to 3 hours after your resort arrival.

It's going to be at least midnight.

Always carry what you need for at least the first 24 hours in carryon

You could just increase the tipping budget and hire a porter at the carousel if you don't want to wait for luggage delivery. That way DH isn't dragging anything. Hire someone else who will grab bags from carousel, put them on his or her big cart, then you follow along like you have a tour guide and they wait for you at the end of the ME line. They pass bags over to the bus driver.

Then when you get to the resort hire a bell person.

Airport porter, driver, and bell services are the people to tip. $1 or $2 per bag for each.

I tell you, it can be WELL worth it. And you help with the livelihoods of other people.

It is typically 3 - 4 hours after you check in. Even when we arrive late at night, we ask them to deliver. Usually it is around 1 - 2 am. They knock, we answer, and give them $ and we get our bags, and go right back to sleep. I avoid schlepping onto the bus at all costs.

You are probably going to be after midnight and arriving at the busiest time of year will only push that back even more. I would put everything you need for that first night in one bag that you grab and take with you on the bus and anticipate the bags arriving the next morning to be safe.
