Magical Express Late Evening Arrival Report

We spoke with some friends of ours that flew into WDW Saturday evening. They had not received their tags either. When they got to the gate, there were CMs there with Mickey Hands. They took their claim checks and did take care of their bags. They were also both on personal ECVs and were put onto the buses with no problem.

They arrived at MCO about 9:15 and got to All-Star Music about 10:15. They were told at check-in to call for their bags the next morning as they would not deliver directly to rooms after 11pm so that guests could rest. Once they called the next morning, it took about 45 minutes to get their bags. (The time could have been due to it being an All-Star resort).

This started to worry me as I am arriving at 12:03 AM to Orlando so I called today and spoke with Donald. He checked with a manager and they said that there is really no policy in place and if you wanted to get your bags (with up to a 3 hour delay) that late at night, they will be delivered. Most people would just not appreciate a knock on their door at 3 AM or later so they are holding them until the next morning.

What I was told to do was not put the tags on the luggage (if I actually get them) and to get my own off the carousel and take it down to the busses myself. Yeah, its a pain, but less of the one that you would have waiting up until 3 AM for your bags to get to your room or packing everything you need for the night and next day until your bags hit your room. So it is an option not to use the luggage part of the service if you are arriving really late or don't feel comfortable without your luggage for the amount of time that Disney is budgeting.
