I was told yesterday that you must get your own luggage and take it on the bus with you for flights arriving after 10:00. The CM said they had so many complaints, that they decided to discontinue pick up and delivery of the luggage for late arriving flights. From what I've read on this board, it's probably a good idea.

I called Disney's Magical Express (1-866-599-0951) to see if this is true.

The Magical Express CM explained that it's not exactly true. Here's what she told me:
  • It can take 3 to 4 hours for luggage to be delivered.
  • For late arriving flights, they encourage guests to pick up their own luggage -- especially guests who need their luggage right away.
  • However, this is not an exclusion. Guests are entitled to free luggage transfers, regardless of arrival time -- even if they arrive at 2:00 a.m.

I explained that we're arriving around 10:00 p.m., and that I wanted the luggage transfers. My plan is to bring a carry-on with everything that we need until the next morning. Then, the next day, they can deliver the luggage to our room. (I don't want anyone delivering luggage at midnight or 2:00 a.m.)

The CM said that's fine. At check-in, I should just let the front desk or bell services know that this is what I want.

I really like the idea of going from the arrival gate directly to the Disney Welcome Center and onto the next motor coach to our resort. If we had to go to baggage claim first, it's quite likely that we would be on a later coach and we would arrive at our resort a half hour or so later. I'd rather get to the resort sooner and not have to handle any luggage in the airport or at the resort.

Thanks for your update. I guess I'll find out when I get there!! :flower:

The CM that I spoke to at ME seemed to have a bit of an attitude, so maybe this is was just her opinion of what should be done. I'll pack a bag with what we need for the night and the next morning and we'll see options we have when we get there. It's not worth stressing over.!! :flower:

KC-CT,

First, I don't doubt for minute that a CM told you that "you must get your own luggage and take it on the bus with you for flights arriving after 10:00" at night. Unfortunately, there have been numerous reports of conflicting information from Disney CMs about Magical Express. (And it's also possible that the CM I spoke to did not have the latest information.)

Please allow me to offer a suggestion regarding your comment, "we'll see options we have when we get there."

I would suggest figuring out your options before your travel date. Call Disney's Magical Express (1-866-599-0951) and speak with a supervisor if you need to.

You should know whether or not to use the yellow DME routing tags at your home airport.

If you want your bags to "magically appear" in your room, you should attach the yellow routing tags. Your bags will be pulled at MCO before they get to the baggage claim. They'll go on a luggage truck to WDW.

If you you want to retrieve your own bags at the airport baggage claim and handle them at the airport and at the resort, then don't attach the yellow routing tags.

My SW flight will arrive at 10:40 on 8/21. Cm told me that ME is picking up bags up until 11:00 pm and will deliver to your room 2-3 hours later. To avoid someone showing up at 2 am she suggested that I not yellow tag my bags , pick them up myself and go to the ME Station for transportaion to Disney POP. They sent me my ME paperwork with the correct flight numbers and dates but the wrong times. ONe CM said it was okay another said it was not ok. Then I changed my date of arrival, they sent new paperwork with the original dates(incorrect) but the correct flight numbers and wrong times. I asked for a new and correct set, I rec'vd them the following day. I am still not convinced they know I'm coming. :goodvibes
