Magical Express - How Late?

Another question....where do you registar for the ME?? I can't find it on the site.:confused3 I found where it tells me to pre-registar but doesn't tell me where.

Dunno...something about not having the luggage till morning or missing luggage just seems to make an ulcer want to start on it's own. :lmao: No diapers, no PJ's ,no food for my DD (allergy food that will have to travel in luggage)....I think I would rather make sure it is with me!!;)

I'm not sure it will be running that late, however I'd just rent a car. ME service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE when we were there. We had to wait 3 hours for it.

Your situation must be an exception. When we got there, our bus was waiting for us and not vice versa.

As a side note, after waiting for 1 hour I would've gotten a cab. I can't imagine standing there for 3 hours.

DME phone number....866-599-0951.
You can head to baggage claim and grab you bags and then go to DME checkin counter if you wish. Do not put the yellow luggage tags on your checked bags. Doing it this way will add time though, and you will have to shclep your bags yourself.
As far as worrying about losing your bags...I would be more concerned about the airlines losing them. If this happens, Disney will take care of finding them for you. In any case, you should have a carryon bag, for each person, with any essentials you may want for the first 6 hrs at WDW. I like to have some travel sized toiletries, a change of clothes, a swim suit, suntan lotion and all reservation papers/numbers.

Depending on which stop your resort is, it could take anywhere from an hour to 90 mins to get from the plane to the resort checkin. It may take a bit longer later at night when they may not have quite as many buses in service...but it most certainly isn't going to take 3 hrs!!! There are only 3, possibly 4, stops per bus. The bus is at each stop about 5 minutes, then off to the next resort. WDW is about 25 mins from the airport. I've never waited in the line at the counter for more than 10 mins, and that time I was waaaaay back in a long line. There are plenty of CMs working if need be. And a wait of 15 mins in the bus line was my longest...but my resort bus was just pulling away as I got to the line, so had to wait for the next one.

That's what carry-ons are for. No matter where I fly, I always take the first 24 hours of supplies in carry-ons just in case the AIRLINE delays my luggage. And yes, I did this with two kids, one of them in diapers, arriving late at night and simply not caring when our luggage arrived because we took care of ourselves for the first 24 hours with our carry-ons. I can't imagine NOT packing lots of extra diapers in a carry-on.

And by the way, if the food in question isn't entirely a liquid or gel, then you can bring it in a carry-on. For example, PB&J sandwich, allowed in carry-on. Packets/jars of PB and packets/jar of jelly, NOT allowed in carry-on.

By the looks of your signature, the last time you were at WDW was August of 2004. DME launched on May 5, 2005, which if my public school math skills can be trusted means that you could not possibly have used DME 8 or 9 months before DME existed. Please be more careful in publicizing a complaint about a service you clearly didn't use.

I agree with Cleve. We don't have children, but we have enough that we HAVE to lug as carryons with the ECV, C-PAP machine, camera, and the laptop that having to stop at the luggage carousel also was not fun. Now we can skip all that!! We are departing on the 9th and will arrive at 11:50 pm. Having what we need for 24 hours only adds one more shoulder bag to what we already have to carry on.

If I were arriving as early as 6:30 pm, then I wouldn't even worry about that extra bag as I would know in plenty of time that my bags wouldn't be available and I could get some toiletries and PJs at the store and wash what I was wearing the previous day to wear again the next day until the airline and DME did deliver my luggage.

Mrsnj91---If you are worried about ME, then don't use it. You can certainly hire a towncar for about $100, or take a cab, or rent a car. Although there have been complaints about ME on these boards, I do think the majority of the time it works great. You should never pack anything in your checked bags that you can't live without. There's a better chance of your airline losing your suitcase than ME. However, the great thing about ME is that it's a CHOICE. It's not worth using it if you are going to spend part of your vacation worrying.

Cleve,

One of the few times we have agreed. SMD needs to get their act together before posting that type of information. I don't think anyone has waited to long unless they came in at some ungodly hour. I know for a fact that early in the morning or late at night if there are no busses available Mears will put them in a cab or shuttle for free and collect from Disney as a DME transfer. Anyone who posts they waited over an hour I would question agressively, because I don't think it happened.

All righty then....can we stop with the 'negative' thoughts about poor simonkodousek?? I choose to believe that he posted in error, assuming that what he used was the same as DME. I have used Mears in the past, and have to agree, it was not a good experience. Let's cut him some slack here. I think he just made an assumption. Yes, it would be wonderful if everyone knew exactly what they were talking about, but human nature being what it is, people make mistakes.
So.....let's get back to giving out some more good advice here. :hippie:
