I was just wondering if anyone could share their Magical Express stories. I have reservations for December and I am going to be arriving late night at the airport, and I am just a little nervous about everything going ok. Any stories, good or bad, would be incredibly appreciated :goodvibes

Try the search, I know there were several threads in the past few weeks. I wsa looking, too. Seems most liked the experience, they got to the resort in an hour or so. Luggage takes 3-4 hours minimum.

We've used ME 3 times this year and it's been great each time, traveled to Pop, CSR and POR. We always take a very early a.m. flight that arrives MCO at 8:00, so there has never been a line at the ME counter and we've gotten to each resort within 30 minutes. We'll be using it again in December.

Hi - I'm not ssure how different your experience might be with late night arrival, so many others will post. Our second experience with ME a few weeks ago was perfect - actually much shorter wait for coach buses than the previous fall during FDP.

I am honestly SHOCKED by the things I've read here complaining about ME. I think it's one of the best (yes, and most clever) services ever offered by Disney!

Please don't expect the worst from reading negative reports - there are lots of us with very positive ones!

I've loved DME both times I've used it. One of the times, we arrived (with our 6 and 4 year old) around 10 p.m., and it couldn't have been better. We got to our resort 56 minutes after we exited the aircraft. That's faster than some car services would be (if you include having to wait for luggage if you take a car service).

There are very few negative posts about DME. WHat is very common, however, is people posting about feeling nervous about using it.

I've taken DME to...POP (3 times), to BWV (2) and BCV (1)...with the most recent being BWV last month. I usually arrive around noon..shortly before or after. It has routinely taken about 70 mins from deplaning to resort checkin. For the most part, I can't tell you when my bags got to my room because I wasn't there! I was either swimming or at a park. Only one time have I been in the room when the bags got there...at BWV, I got into my villa at 4:15, after checking in at about 1:00. Our bags appeared in our room at 4:30ish. Not too shabby.
At the other resorts we just went off and did our thing..when we got back to the room the bags were there.
As for arriving later at night.....be sure to pack your carryon (no matter when you are arriving!) with whatever you will need in the immediate future. I usually pack a change of clothes (shorts, tee, undies), a swim suit if it's hot, travel documents, park passes, electronics, and my quart size ziploc baggie with toothpaste, mouthwash, sunscreen. If you arrive later at night (after 9ish I would say) you might want to have your bags held until the next morning. They could deliver them in the middle of the night otherwise..not fun if you've just fallen asleep.
Or, you could just not tag the checked bags with the yellow DME tags, and pick them up yourself at baggage claim, and then you can bring them to the DME checkin counter, and then over to the bus, with you. The bags will then be stowed underneath the bus you are on, and you can have them, with you, when you checkin. And no need to worry about when the bags will get there.
It's up to you how best to handle it. But, I would put away any fears or nervousness about using DME. You may very well have read some scary experiences, but remember, they are in the vast minority. People tend to report bad experiences much more often than good ones...just the nature of the beast so to speak.

We havent had a Bad Magical Express trip yet...BUT that is because of the DIS!!!! here what we do:

Just an FYI from something I learned here on the DIS about the ME.....TAKE YOUR LUGGAGE with you.......... you * are * allowed too....DONT put any tags on your luggage with anything ME on your WAY DOWN TO FLORIDA ...when you fly into Orlando, go Down to the baggage claim and GET YOUR BAGS!!! Get a CART and head down to the MAgical EXPRESS with all of your LUGGAGE, ,BOARD the BUS and your luggage will be stored ON THE BUS, in the under compartment...When the BUS pulls up to your resort, they will open the compartment and VOILA!!! you have your luggage the WHOLE TIME!!!! I wont do it any other way!!!!

we love the ME...( we also like to arrive into Florida on a weekday and *VERY EARLY, ie by 9am!!)

Don't be nervous, it's great. Once you find the Disney Welcome Center(which is the hardest part IMO), they will take it from there! I wouldn't bother getting my luggage, they do that for you! Just take what you need that night in your carry on. Since you will be arriving late at night, I don't know if they deliver your luggage to you in the middle of the night, or wait until morning.

One note....if you take your bags with you, on the bus, be aware that you are not truly using DME to it's full benefit. Yes, you are allowed to bring your bags with you, on the bus (well, technically under the bus), but the whole process of having to remove a bunch of luggage from underneath the bus at each stop slows down the process. The only time it took me more than 66 mins to get to my resort was the one time we had to sit and wait at the first two stops while the bus driver dragged out about 20 pieces of luggage at each of those previous two resorts. Now, there are those who say it doesn't add al that much time but I timed it...I watched as the driver took out each piece of luggage, then each person had to make sure their luggage was all there, then they fumbled around looking for money for a tip (which is expected if the driver does in fact stow your bags). We were at each of those two resorts (AKL and CSR) a total of 21 mins. Usually the stop lasts about 5 mins. And I'm sure my experience was unusual...I have yet to see so many pieces of stowed luggage. But, obviously it can happen and I did not have nice warm fuzzy feelings about those who felt the need to bring their 6 pieces of luggage with them.

I should have also stated that we do have a Special Needs Child as well...We could never just pack in our carryons what we would need and we cant chance not having our luggage and his things with us right away......

For us, we do need our things with us and wouldnt do it any other way...sorry, i do feel bad for slowing you all down, but My hubby does help, as soon as we stop hubby grabs our luggage to make it quicker....

>>> VOILA
Imagine schlepping suitcases from partway up the grandstand on one side of a football field near your 20 yard line, across the field, and partway up the grandstand on the other side near the opponent's 20 yard line. That is vaguely what going from the A side to the B side could be like. Using the same football analogy, all airport trams from the gates arrive near one or the other goalpost. Without fetching checked baggage you can report directly to the Magical Express area on the B side, near the end not at the Hyatt hotel.

Now you could be lucky, your airline's carousel might be the one just above the Magical Express area so the walk is more like from your stadium seat to the hot dog stand underneath.

Don't worry about it: too each his own!! I would do the same thing if I were in your shoes!!

I asked the same question as the OP a couple of days ago. We will be arriving at our resort late in the evening around 10:30pm and I was wondering about the luggage being brought to my room. Yes it will be brought to your room but you may be asleep and they will wake up. Now me- I don't have a problem with that whatsoever but I will still be packing a carryon bag with our toiletries and 1 days of clothes, camera, etc, etc....

If you plan ahead – as lustergirl is doing (smart move!) – three simple steps will (okay, should ;)) prevent you from being awakened in the middle of the night:
1) Inform the Front Desk when you check in that you would like your luggage held until morning.
2) Inform Bell Services that you would like your luggage held until morning.
3) Place the “Privacy Please” card in the key slot in your door (so Bell Services can’t put the key in) before going to sleep.
In the morning, your message light will be flashing. Return the call to Bell Services and let them know when you would like your bags delivered – you do NOT need to be in the room.

Note: Value resorts have Luggage Assistance, not Bell Services. You will likely not get your luggage in the middle of the night, since they’re technically closed although there is a skeleton staff.
