Hello, has anyone used the magical express for Depature? How does it work? Is it for domestic flights only?
Is it efficient, and always on time, I don’t want to save $40 on the taxi back to the airport but miss my flight lol :rotfl:

I drive one of the DME buses and I can tell you that if you catch the bus when they tell you to there is a good chance that you won't miss your flight. The departure time from your resort is at least 2 hours and 45 minutes before your flight time. Figure 30-60 minutes to reach the airport and that leaves you 2 hours 15 minutes-1 hour 45 minutes to catch your flight and do everything you need to do. You should have enough time especially if you check your bags at the resort and get your boarding passes at the resort.

(the taxi from Disney is $60 not $40)

We just got back and used the Magical Express. It worked great!!!!! My son actually said "Only at Disney could something be this easy". We arrived at the resort at 10 am, they had a room available. We dropped off our carryons and took off to the parks. We got back to our room around 6pm and our luggage was in our rooms. On the day of departure, our flight left at 2:15 so we checked our bags at the resort around 9:30, they printed our boarding passes for us. We went and ate breakfast, went to the gift shop one last time and the bus picked us up at 11:30. We had plenty of time at the airport, no chance of missing our flight. I think this service is fantastic. I don't think we will EVER drive to Orlando again!!!! :cheer2:

If my flight is leaving MCO at 7am, what time would I be leaving the resort? 4:45 am? Do they run the DME that early?

Yes, actually, your pick up should be in the first half of the hour, 4 to 4:30 AM.

DME busses are out there close to 24/7 on most days.

Glad to see this as a public poll so you can see who voted. I am very interested in the results, not who voted what, but that whoever only voted once, so the results reflect a reasonably accurate opinion.

I hope a public poll works that way.

Do you have to take the bus that early to the airport? Especially if you've checked bags and got boarding pass at the resort??? 2 hours waiting at airport? I'd rather spend an extra hour at WDW.

Also, is it possible to be picked up at one of the theme parks for the airport? instead of the resort??? and does it have to be the resort that I stayed at??

If you want an extra hour at the resort take a towncar. My pickup was at 4:45. At 4:40 a bus came up, he was the 4:15 bus but got us. We made 2 stops and didn't get to MCO until 6:10.

With the bus you have to allow enough time for a delay and stops.

Used Disney Express (Really it is still Meers - look at small print on the side for licensing) decided to try it because it was built into the room rate. We are self proclaimed Disney “Experts”, 16 previouse trips, Annual Pass holders from Indiana, and our 4th visit in past 12 months. We were accompanied this trip with our daughter and 2 granddaughters. We had used Florida Ttown Car with JC at least 10 times in the past-GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! Regarding Disney Express - To start, you have to walk to the end of the Airport, Check in at one line, and then get in another line for the bus. It took 3 hours to get to Port Orleans Resort with the check-in and stops at other Disney resorts. They do take care of your luggage but the drawback is you can’t unpack. We got back from the park at 12 midnight and then had to unpack.
Prior to checkout we learned that our airline doesn’t participate in the luggage pick-up for the return trip, so we would have to take it from the bus all the way to luggage check-in ourselves. Plus it was going to be another 3 + hours: I called J.C. for the trip back instead. That way, we were able to stay until 4:00 pm at the parks and J.C. dropped us and our luggage off at the airport just right! Thank you J.C. We will see you next trip!
