ok this is a new one for me
We have never taken DS on a bus before
I am assuming there are no seat belts on the motor coaches--so does that mean he just sits in a regular seat ( he will be 2 when we go in Oct)

and if this is the case--how can this be safe?

Thanks for the help

No seat belts in the buses. Your seat will go underneath with your luggage.

There are no seat belts in any mass transit. Subways, trains, buses, trams, monorails.

There are some people who won't accept any degree of risk. So to use their car seats they rent cars, which, ironically, are more statistically dangerous than the public transit.

So, if you have a car seat and/or booster seat with you, you cannot secure it to a seat in the DME bus? Small children just use the regular seat???

No way to secure a car seat in the DME bus. Busses are designed to protect occupants in the event of an accident without seat belts.

Not that that helped the two people who died in the Greyhound bus crash in November.

Mass transit doesn't use seat belts nor do school buses - and millions of kids are transported this way safely each day. Renting a car would allow you to use a car seat, but not sure that really diminishes the risk of injury to a child overall. Just depends on what you're most comfortable with.

OP asked how it could be safe to be unrestrained in a bus seat, and a responder said that buses are compartmentalized and protect people in accidents, which is why they don't use seatbelts on them. I've never really bought that argument, and the Greyhound bus crash illustrates why.

There is some risk in any transportation.
