Hi,

I just wanted to confirm this with a few people because I received some conflicting information from the Walt Disney Travel person I spoke with.

They said that all I have to do is put the yellow tags on my luggage and then they will deliver the luggage to our room.

But...my understanding was that Magical Express and Canadian airlines in general don't mix. I thought I would have to pick up my luggage and bring it with my to the Express counter. Can someone confirm this for me??:confused3

I haven't heard of any problems with any airlines. I thought the only issue was that you had to pre-clear US Customs in Canada if you didnt want to collect your luggage on arrival. If you didn't/can't pre-clear US Customs before departing Canada, you have to collect your bags on arrival, clear customs in Orlando, then continue on to Magical express. After clearing US customs in Orlando you can take your bags with you, or hand them back over to ME.

ETA: BTW, where did you hear the rumor?

When I first used Magical Express in 2005 this is what we did.

We cleared customs in Winnipeg and when we landed in Orlando we had to collect our bags and bring them to the Magical Express counter to be put on the bus.

After that we flew into Orlando using NorthWest and it was never a problem or bags just magically appreared in our rooms.

I just want to make sure that I don't have to collect my bags this trip, and that all I have to do is put the yellow tags on them and then they will magically appear in my rooms. I orginally thought that not all airlines participated in Magical express but I guess I'm wrong.

The bright colored tags you recieved are the key factors for allowing your/any airline traveling that that suitcase destination is Disney. Once your bag is checked at your departing airport that bag is the first one on/off any & all airlines. You do not have to retrieve your bags at the Orlando airport...the Disney folks will do that for you. All you have to do is board the Magical Express waiting for you in Orlando that will then take you to your resort ....and your bags will be taken directly to your room later!

Interesting.

I haven't heard of any issues before, but that of course doesn't mean there haven't been any. I would give both Disney and West Jet a call to confirm everything will be ok.

As long as you clear customs on the Canadian side of the border, just slap those tags on the bags and use the luggage delivery. It's an absolute no-brainer: more convenient, faster, don't have to lug them, don;t have to tip the driver and bell services to handle them, better all around. The only reason you would not be able to use the yellow tags is if you needed to do Customs and Immigration in the US. Since I believe you clear customs in Winnipeg, you should be all set.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

pumpkin boy is correct - we always fly WestJet from Ottawa to Orlando, and never have a problem with our yellow tags. As long as you clear US customs up in Canada, you're okay :thumbsup2

Keep in mind when returning from MCO, your bags will go with you on the ME bus - as resort bag check in is NOT available for WestJet passengers.

went in january 2007 & 2008 with West Jet. We put on the magical yellow tag on our lugage, check in at the airport and next time we saw them was in our room!

Westjet will probably not have any idea what happens with Magical Express (unless you happen upon a call centre agent that is a Disney traveller, by choice). Magical Express Resort Baggaage delivery is handled between Orlando Airport (MCO) and WDW. If you put the yellow luggage tags on your bags, they will be diverted behind the scenes at MCO, and sent to WDW.

If you are clearing customs from the city you are leaving from put on your ME luggage tags and you will see them at your hotel. If you have a connecting flight in Canada before entering the U.S. ie Toronto put them on after you clear customs there and then see them at your hotel. We fly Wpg to TO and then on to MCO and put our tags on before we put them on the luggage belt after clearing customs in TO. We have never had a problem with WestJet and our luggage with ME.

GReat, thanks for the help everyone. We managed to get a direct flight from Winnipeg to Orlando so we will be clearing customs in Winnipeg. So we should have no problem.

THANK-YOU EVERYONE!!

glad I saw this thread - we are westjetting directly from Calgary.. I plan on using Magical Express tags.

THANK-YOU EVERYONE!!

We are going direct YWG to MCO in February 2009. We can report back here for sure.

First time we have EVER gone direct to MCO. So excited to say the lease!
