Magical Express airline question...

We are going to stay at AKV and I am letting each of my kids bring a friend. One of their friends is going to be on vacation with their family and they are going to fly to Orlando and join us. I asked for the flight info but they haven't gotten a flight yet (it is 5 weeks from our trip).

Can I just look up a flight on that day and just use that to order the ME ticket? Does it really matter which flight they are on? Especially if they pick up their own luggage?

This person is 19 if that matters.

I think you need that flight info at least a few weeks prior. They mail you your vouchers that are taken at the airport by the Magical Express info. I'm not sure they will allow anyone on the bus without the voucher. You may want to place a call to member services and ask them how this is best handled. Geez...5 weeks out and no air travel booked yet?!?! What are they waiting for?!?!

I don't know what they are waiting for either. It is kind of annoying. My daughter asked her to join us months ago and we had the dates (had our room booked long ago). She said she could go and then her family decided to go on a trip and won't be back the day we leave. Well my daughter could have asked another friend to go, but she wants to go and the parents told her they would buy her a ticket to join us and then she will ride back home with us. But it just seems to be much more complicated this way.

I guess I should call MS and asked them how to handle this. Seems like if you pick up your own luggage it shouldn't be that big of a deal which plane you use. But maybe there is something.

Just find a similar flight the same day on line and submit that information. They do not cross reference the information with the airlines, and it will get you a ticket on ME which is all you really want. We did this on our last visit when we stayed the first night at an airport hotel, the next morning we got on Magical Express with no issues. It is unfortunate that your friends will not get you the information you need. No good deed goes unpunished.

Really? I thought you had to have a ticket. I guess I need to call and find out how to handle this situation.

If you don't have a voucher ahead of time, then you can get one at the counter at the airport. The flight info ahead of time, I believe, helps them to make sure they have enough buses scheduled and running to keep things moving along.

One year we weren't sure if we were going to rent a car or not....last minute we decided not to rent and use ME. We just had to pick up our own luggage since it was too late for tags. At the airport, they gave us vouchers and we were on our way .

Don't bother to call MS, they are just the middle man. Call DME at 866 599-0951.

I have added my mother to our reservation while at Disney the day she has flown in before and she has been able to take DME- she only had carry-ons so the luggage didn't matter.

Well I called directly to ME and they said I had to go MS for DVC. I called them and they said I had to have flight info, so now I am going to look up something and just use that to get her a ticket.

OK.....so if I give this girl a copy of our reservation that lists her name, can she just take that to the ME bus and get the ticket right there without an advance reservation. Sounds like your mom was able to do this. The girl will probably have one suitcase (I told them only 1 per person since it all has to fit in our van on the way home). So she would have to pick it up.

I suppose if worse comes to worse, DH and I can drive over and get her at the airport since we are not going to the parks on our first day. The others girls are, but we were planning to go to the grocery store and then out to dinner at DTD that evening.

Alright...talked to MS and it sounds like as long as she has the reservation number and an ID showing she is an adult (she is 19) that she can just walk up to the desk that day and get a ticket.

So I messaged her the reservation number and told her to have an ID and am leaving it up to her now.

I copied her mom on the message, but so far the mom has wanted to leave all the communication up to the two 19 year old girls. But I figure if her DD loses the info she has access to it as well.
