Do I need to call ahead to reserve my spot on the bus?

Where do I find the bus after I get my luggage?

I don't have the special luggage tags. If I just put my name on my own tags, will my luggage make it to my resort room?

While you can board the bus without a reservation, it is best to make one. You do not have to have the yellow tags on your bags, but you will need to give your baggage claim tickets to a ME CM in order for them to be claimed. There will be signs at MCO directing you where to go.

I would call ASAP or make your ME reservation online line as soon as possible. Much less work for you to have it prebooked.

ETA: to clarify my first sentence, you must have a resort reservation to board ME, but an actual reservation for ME is not necessary. They can add you at the ME desk.

1) Yes, you need to call ahead.
2) Look for signage in the airport directing you to ME. IIRC, it's on side B, so if you collect your luggage on side A, you need to go back to level 3, cross to side B, then go down to ground transportation.
3) If you don't have your tags, when you check in at the ME desk, you'll give them your claim ticket numbers. They'll pick up your bags for you and deliver to your room. Just know your bags may go around the "carousel" before DME gets to them.

If I were you I would get my bags my self and take them to DME. That way you would know that they will be delivered. We went down once without tags and only one bag of two showed up at our resort. They didn't locate the other one until the next day. It was my wifes.

do this!!! Always put some clothes for each person in each suitcase. If a bag gets losts everyone has at least SOMETHING to wear!!

That was likely the airline's fault, not DME. It is always best to carry on everything you need for a full 24 hours, including all medications. When we flew home from WDW last October, one of our bags took a side trip to Pennsylvania. Took two days to get it back. Luckily it was just full of laundry to be done.

That's not what I've heard. I've always heard that you do need to have a reservation to get on the ME bus.

If you forget to reserve ME, you just go to the desk and they can look up your resort reservation and they will let you board the proper bus. I found an article explaining how to do it, but it isn't allowed to be posted here.

1. Yes, call ahead and make your reservation. Some people have been able to just walk up and be put on a bus. But that is contrary to the contract that Disney has with MCO. So, not something I would count on doing.
2. If you choose not to tag your bags, get them yourself, and then go to level 1, Side B. there will be signage, as well as the map, with directions in the booklet you get in the mail.
3. Nope. The DME yellow tags are scanned as they come off the plane. Any bags without that scan will go to the public baggage claim carousels. If you make your reservation, but don't get your packet, and tags, you can give them your baggage claim receipts, and a description, and they will send someone to get them and ,ove them to your resort.

You really are better off just making the reservation prior to your arrival.
