I forgot to make the reservation for DME until we were 9 days out. I went through the DVC site to book it. Does anyone know really how long it takes to get the booklet in the mail once you make the ressie? I haven't gotten it yet and we leave on Tuesday. I wasn't really worried about it but I called member services for something else and decided to ask what my options were. The woman on the phone said that I could just give them our boarding passes at the ME desk but that it would take a LOT longer to get our luggage.

If you do not receive the package before you depart, make sure that all of your luggage has name tags on them. On your arrival at the airport, proceed to the Magical Express desk located on the lower level of terminal B. Disney will ask you for your airline baggage claim checks and a description of your bags and so that they can pull them for you and deliver them to your resort.

Although I've never seen any complaints by doing what David suggests, personally, I think I'd go get my bags myself and take them to the DME with me. The 20 or 30 minutes waiting for the bags would reduce my personal stress. Folks who arrive on international flights have to take their bags to DME themselves, so you wouldn't feel out of place.

we use dme all the time. The first time we booked it we used their luggage tags that came. We didnt see our luggage until we got to resort but arrives at different time than we do at resort. So when we travel now and use dme we have waited until it was too late to get package. You dont need it. What we do is we pick our bags up take them to the dme desk give them our name and walk to the line for the resort we are going to. Our bags are with us and arrive at resort same time we do.

We will be travelling in a large group with 3 kids so this would definitely be our preference but do you know if it really take the bags a lot longer to get to the hotel? Thanks.

the bags are not on same bus as you. They travel in a baggage truck

I would grab my own bags if I were you! This will also ensure that they are on YOUR bus. Just make sure they get unloaded when you get off.

While I think DME is a wonderful service, sometimes things just don't run as smoothly as they should. For example I booked a last minute trip last month for my sister and me. We were told we would not get luggage tags beforehand, but after showing up at the airport DME desk we learned that we weren't in the computer at all! Luckily I had my confirmation info.

I won't even go into the problems we had on the way home!
