September 2 was our last full day at WDW and we had an ADR scheduled for Coral Reef at 5:30. We got there about a half hour early to check in, and discovered that the restaurant was closed due to an emergency.
We were disappointed but got in a short line to find somewhere else to eat. There was a woman in front of us that stood there for a half hour complaining about the problem, and the fact that she was going to have to wait to get in somewhere else, basically giving the poor CM's there a hard time. I wanted to tell her that if she would SHUT UP and stop wasting her time complaining her wait time would be greatly lessened as it was still early for dinner. But no...she took up enough time that by the time she left there were at least 25 people in line trying to get another ADR somewhere.
Anyway, a manager walked up as we reached the desk and gave us a card and told us to find any restaurant in Epcot, give them that card and they would try and slip us in as soon as they could. We ran to LeCellier and were seated within 15 minutes.
While waiting, the CM's were doing Canadian trivia with the guests and while I'm not Canadian, I went to Lake Superior State University which is about 50/50 American and Canadian and had a clear advantage.
I let the CM know that and CM Adam, who is from Sault Ste. Marie on the Canadian side, jumped up and ran right over to talk to me. He was so happy and excited, and we got seated a few minutes later.
The meal was excellent, and before it was done, we were told the kids were chosen to be Junior Chefs and the Chef would be out when dessert was served to help the kids make their dessert.
The kids a a little bit young to appreciate what was happening, but DH and I were so touched and it was a magical moment for sure (I had tears welling up). They got Chef's hats and certificates, and Adam came by to talk to us at our table and DH had always had questions about where WDW houses all the college kids there...he answered all our questions and just was wonderful.
It was just the best meal and probably the best moment of the trip for sure.

! You really made the best of an unfortunate turn of events regarding your original plan to eat at Coral Reef. Too bad that crabby lady you had to listen to couldn't get with the program sooner and move on!
