Magical DISney Weekend
31st January 2009 - 2nd February 2009
Pre Trip
Day One
Day Two - 1st February 2009
6:30am comes round far too quickly, especially when you have spent most of the night with a 21month old's feet in the back of your head! The one main downside of the Kyriad was that there were only four pillows in the whole room (one each) and reception couldn't help with anymore.
We were up, packed and ready for breakfast by 7am and were the second family in line for breakfast. The breakfast in the Kyriad is located in a restuarant away from the Hotel rooms so it was very quiet in there but also freezing cold, it's obvious that they don't heat it overnight!!
After breakfast we went to check out and managed to be on the bus by 7:40, by 8am we were at Luggage Storage at the Disneyland Park and through the gates by 8:08! We had again missed park opening but had given it a very good go! EMH today meant that we were able to whizz round Fantasyland without many queues at all. This morning we managed Peter Pan, Le Carousel de Lancelot, Mad Hatters Tea Cups and Dumbo before we headed to Discoverland for Buzz. After waiting in the queue for 30 minutes and having managed to keep Kacee happy for that long looking at all of the details in the Buzz queue we were told that there were technical difficulties and that the ride was now closed. No-one offered us any fastpasses for later in the day which I was massivly dissappointed with and spent the next 10 minutes trying to stop Kacee crying as he thought we weren't going on the ride becuase he had been naughty. EMH had now practically finished and we decided to head to the Studio's so that we could calm Kacee down on Car's and Flying Carpets
.
The queues for entrance to the Studios today were simply amazing. They were queuing 15-20 deep to buy tickets and it took us 10 minutes to get through the turnstiles! Inside the park the people seem to dissappear which gives the illusion that the park is quieter than it really is. We headed straight for Cars, laughing at the people queuing all the way past the information board for Crush and playing the "Guess the Crush Queue Length" after Cars we walked past the Crush time which was saying 120 minutes however I have a feeling that this is as high as the signs go as I have never seen one say more than 120 minutes no matter what time of the year. After a quick ride on Flaying carpets we headed into Studio 1 for a hot chocolate and a snack. We decided to head back to the Disneyland Park via the Studio's shop however Kacee fell asleep on the way over, so I decided to grab the bags and head over to the Santa Fe Hotel
where we were spending our second night. Check in here went perfectly and I was checed in by a very bored looking Goofy! We were in Block 40, room 119. This block is right opposite reception but was very, quiet and was actually a very nice place to be as there are only three other rooms on that floor! Cleaning had left a cart outside the room, so imagine my dismay when I realised that 2 soaps, 2 shampoos, a few towells and 2 pillows had lept off of the cart and into my hands!
After meeting back up with DW and Kacee we went into the Emporium where we took the plunge and started trading pins with the CM's in here. We had managed to find some Narnia pins on special offer (4 for 5 euros) and were trading them like crazy! I managed to trade 3 while DW traded 4. We noticed after that that most CM's had the Narnia badges on thier lanyards so we decided to try our luck later in the evening when hopefully there were new CM's on shift!
Kacee woke up so we went in IASW, Peter Pan, Casey Junior

Buzz and Pirates
before deciding at 5pm that it was just too cold and headed back on the Cattle Bus to the Cheyenne to make reservations for the buffet at 7pm, I found where I want to stay in March and made notes of the blocks to ask for when I call to add Half Board. Back over the bridge to the Santa Fe to quickly shower and change. The buffet at the Cheyenne was as good as it was in October and I personally think it was better than the one at the Davy Crockett Ranch.
After dinner we headed into Disney Village on the Cattle Bus and pin-traded with CM's in the shop's, I litteraly had to beg one CM to part with thier 'Woody' pin in exchange for one of my rubbish Narnia ones (The CM really liked Toy Story) but he gave in when he realised that we both had the same first name! I found the whole pin-trading experience a little daunting in the beginning but after the first 4 or 5 times it is really good fun. We headed back to the Hotel, safe in the knowledge that tomorrow, although being our last day, would be a bit quieter everywhere.
Tomorrow...will Ellie have the baby?...will we get home?...will we actually see Stitch Live!?...can I get rid of my remaining 3 Narnia pins?...all will be revealed.
