MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

We got the letter to stating the change in itinerary. I was kind of disappointed I was hopeing it was fun mail. Heck I don't care where the ship goes as far as I'm concerned it can park it's self in the ocean away from Florida for seven days. I just want to be back on the magic.

We also got the letter with the change. I'm actually more excited after seeing the picture of the turtle!! Emma is the biggest Sea Turtle lover on the planet. So much so, we were at Sea World the other day and the guy working the Sea Turtle area was asking if anyone had a question. She kept rambling sea turtle facts and he was quite surprised a 4 year old knew that much about sea turtles.

Cindy, sorry to see you've officially cancelled. There's always next cruise!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!! We are at the beach right now enjoying the holiday.:cheer2: I hope everyone else has a great weekend.

Cindy, so sorry to hear you won't be on the cruise. :sad1: We will miss you.

We are officially booked for the Christmas cruise. Can't wait this is our 2nd cruise. Our first was just a 4 night this past Jan. So what can we expect on a Christmas cruise?? Can't wait to see everyone on board!!:cool1:

Yeah I finished our fish extender last night. It wasn't as hard as i thought it would be didn't even sew it. We found some stuff at the fabric store called quick stitch. It was kind of like glue. Now all I've got to do is finish our door signs. I'm keeping these a surprise as several of them of for my mom's birthday.

Lissa

Lissa- you're well on your way to being ready to go :) I haven't given any more consideration to our fish extender yet -- I need to do that. Did you get the instructions from the DIS? Can you post them here (or the link)?

Thanks!

The instructions I found were kind of hard to follow and involved sewing but I did use their measurements. The measurements are 32" long and 8 " wide. The pockets are 11" long and 5 1/2" wide. We cut the back of the fabric the the specified length and then folded it three times until we got the 8" across. Then using the quick stitch we "glued" the fabric together. For the pockets we cut the using the measurements. We folded in the sides so they would look neater then glued the sides down. Once this was dryed we glued the pockets to the back. To hem the top and bottom we used ribbon and glued it along the edge. For the dow rode I made three lopes of fabric and glued them spaced along the top. For the hanger I used a piece of ribbon wrapped it around the dow rode and glued it in place. To make it look more decorative we ironed on disney patches to the pockets. I can not sew if you cna you could do the same thing just instead of sewing you glue. This took a while becasue you have to let the material dry in between steps. As soon as i can I'll take a picture and post it.

Lissa - thanks! DH and the boys will be out of town in early August - that sounds like a great week for me to undertake our fish-extender project so I can leave it out and not have them asking why I'm making one if we don't have a DCL scheduled :)

Good idea Cindy. If the boys see you making one they will start to ask questions. I don't know how you've kept this a secret for so long. I would never be able to do that. I'm horrible at keeping secrets.

Lissa

I hear you Lissa! Last cruise I tried to keep it secret from DH and that lasted for oh....about 2 weeks!:lmao: In the end I was glad because he helped sooo much in the planning stages of everything. I just can't keep a secret like that because I get so excited, I spill the beans.

I think we are going to end up using Christmas stockings for our fish extenders because truth be told, I have absolutely NO crafting abilities and I have absolutely NO time. I always end up buying what I could have easily have made. They have really cute Disney stockings at Christmas time, so I will probably opt for that.

I hope everyone's summer is going well so far! We are on our way out the door to go see Hellboy 2. We were going to see Journey to the Center of the Earth until I found out it was in 3D. I really don't like 3D movies so we opted for Hellboy instead.

Shannon

I couldn't keep it a secret from DH, but so far keeping it from the boys hasn't been too difficult as we've had other trips to plan. But we're finishing up our trip to DC this weekend and then except for a trip to visit family, we don't have another trip planned. I'm hoping that I'll be going to Oregon for work in October and that airfare won't keep us from all going, but it comes about the same time as final payment for the cruise comes.

We have never told our DS.

Usually he asks where we are going as were are driving to the airport :)

Ofcourse he is only 8 1/2 so its pretty easy yet..

Hi everyone!
I just booked our accomodation in Cocoa Beach for Friday night, Dec 19th. WooHoo!!! We're lucky enough to be able to stay at the Double Tree on the beach on my DH's Hampton points. The hotel had a room for discounted points that night, too! My next project is airfare. We're flying on airmiles for that but we have to use more miles for unrestricted fares because of the time of year. Ouch. But Disney's worth it, especially, Disney at Christmas. The few freebies we get is just about the only perk for someone who's husband travels away from home for than 6 months of the year. Christmas can't come soon enough for me!!!!
Lisa Marie

I'm frustrated with usair. We booked our tickets right when fairs came out so we could get them as cheaply as possible. Good thing because we booked them so early we will not be charged for luggage. They have now changed our flight times four times. The latest change leaves us 20 minutes between our connecting flights. We are flying from Asheville to Charlotte which is not a huge airport but still we can not make it from one side to the other in 20 minutes. I'm going to have to call and pray they can find us another flight.

Lissa

Hey everyone!!! It's been a while, but I've been in total vacation planning mode! Thankfully, I don't have to worry about airfare, just have to drive to the port. But, with our anniversary being the 19th, I'm trying to plan an anniversary dinner, along with getting closer to the port. So, after school on the 19th, we're heading over to VWL to check in, see the fireworks at MK and then check the kids into the Cubs Den and dinner at Artist Point. Then, we'll drive to the port in the morning.

Now, I've been trying to plan our trip, and now that we're only going to be in Grand Cayman from 11-4:30, there's not a lot of time for us to do the stingrays, we're thinking that instead, we're going to do the Dolphin Encounter at Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel at Chankanaab. I think that my girls will LOVE it. AND, I talked to Diana and she's going to go too. Kids 5 and under are free, so that's a bonus. We also noticed that they have a discount of 10% if you have a group of 10 or more. So, we wanted to put it out there for everyone in the group. If you're interested in doing it, let me know and maybe we can do it together.

The bonuses, if you have 4 or more people per transactions (not including kids under 6), you get free transportation from the port to Chankanaab park. And, you get free admission into Chankanaab, which is a big savings. With the disney excursion, it's only the trip for the dolphin encounter, you don't get to play at Chankanaab before/after.

So, give it a thought, if you were thinking of doing the dolphins in Cozumel, let me know if you want to go together!!

I know I would be intrested. No one else in my family wants to do this but I'm dieing to. Going with a group would be great that way I wouldn't be on my own.

I've heard back from most everyone on their interests in t-shirts, meets, exchange, etc., so I'm going to compile the responses and post a summary later this week. If you haven't yet responded, please check your PMs and let me know.

I hope everyone is having a good night! Us folks down here in the south of Texas are preparing for Hurricane Dolly to hit tonight. We bought plenty of supplies and boarded up the windows this afternoon. Right at this moment it is sunny and hot outside, but from past experiences with Hurricanes down here, that changes in an instant! It is currently about an hour away and about 75mph
I hope we keep the roof on!:confused3

My fellow co workers at the hospital are going to sleep in shifts in any empty rooms in case they are unable to get home in the morning and relief people are unable to make it in. I am off tonight, but am scheduled to work tomorrow night when the storm is supposed to be at it's worst!:scared1: Anywhere from 15 to 36 inches of rain are expected! However, it's amazing how a woman in labor finds a way in to the hospital even when everyone else on God's Green Earth can't;) .

Shannon

Take care, Shannon, and keep us updated. Being in Florida, I know all too well about hurricane season, so my prayers are with you and your family!!!
