I have read a few threads that have made mention of Magical Beginnings, Can someone explain this?,I am going to take the Plunge as soon as my sales person returns from her "working" cruise. I am thinking of 150 pts at BWV.
Thanks

DVC will buy back a certain number of points from you from your first year allocation at a fixed price - usually $5 or $10/point.

So, if you were to sell back all 150 of your first year points at $10/point, they would credit $1500 towards your purchase price. It is an option, not a requirement.

When we purchased, the offer was for $10/point for up to 1/2 of the first year points - we took it on half of our 150 points - $750 right off the top.

I don't know what the current offer is or what properties it is applicable to - though I do specifically remember a recent mailing regarding VB.

Also Pizzaman - note that the MB offer is only good if you purchase from DVC directly - is not applicable to purchasing a resale (though you need to factor that in to any comparison you do of purchasing through DVC vs. resale).

Last week when we purchased they were offering two types of MB. For VWL, BCV or BWV you got $10/point giving up your first year's points. We purchased 150 points so had our total cost lowered by $1500. For Vero Beach they had two MB's - $10/point and you got to keep your first year's points or $15/point and you gave up your first year point. This was what was going on as of Tuesday, June 17.

Interesting. I hadn't heard about the two-tier MB at VB. From what I heard it was simply $15/point and you had to give up your first year's points.

Why would Disney just give someone $10/point off AND let them keep the points? Just because they are nice? I doubt that. There must be something else to that deal there.

This isn't a slam on Vero Beach as I've never been there, but maybe they're actively trying to get rid of VB points now and the only way to do it is to offer better incentives?

VB sales have been terrible. So terrible that the resort is only a shadow of its original plans. The sales at VB and HH were so awful that Disney will never again build an offsite DVC resort. They actually sold land that was announced as a DVC resort.

Still not an insult to VB, its a great resort, one of the finest in the world, I am very happy to have it as an option.

That doesn't change the fact that it is a failure. A failure of such magnitude that it changed the entire shape and focus of DVC.

We bought into Vero when it first opened sight unseen. We absolutely love it as do our children and grandchildren. It is such a treat after the hectic time at WDW (which we also love) Vero is truely a relatively unspoiled area of Florida and the resort is magnificent. Wouldn't trade it for all the VWL, BCV or any other for that matter. We have since added points and are considering more.

We closed on BCV in March and took advantage of Magical Beginnings. The savings was a plus but we weren't going to be using our points until late this year.

We have a Sept. use year and even though you sell back your first year's points you will get a new set of points when your use year comes around. Plus, our DVC guide told us that MB is only available if you are 6 months or more from your use year. Since we bought in Feb., closed in March, Sept. was the earliest use year we could get and still get to use MB (which was fine for us as Sept. was the use year we wanted anyway).

Since we sold back our 2002 points in Feb. we get our 2003 points in Sept. We aren't traveling until Oct. so it worked out great for us.

also aren't the dues at Vero Beach the highest of any of the DVC resorts?

Richyams......do you honestly think or know that Disney will never again build an off site resort? it sort of bothers me becasue I would like more options.....it almost feels as though Disney is going to be inundated with Timesahres soon...will that lower the value of ours? And also our trading power? I know that most people on this board frown upon trading, however, it is an option that we are quite excited about using in the future.

to VNWViking - let me clarify the 'unspoiled.' The 9 miles or so between the VB Resort and the town of VB is NOT a concrete canyon of high rise condo's. Yes there are a multitude of condo's but they are certainly in the very very pricey range and few exceed 3 stories. There is a lot of greenery along the roadside and several areas of public beach access. To me anyway, it is heads above the west coast of Florida and the trek between West Palm Beach and Miami. In relation to those areas, I would call it relatively 'unspoiled'. At any rate - I LOVE VBR - we have found some FANTASTIC restaurants and the entire atmosphere is just what we were looking for. To each his own.

Actually, it's 2 full months prior to the start of the use year. They were probably sold out of June/August (certain use years are sold out) when you purchased VWL.
