I shared earlier my Magical Day in MK with 10 FP from last Monday. Now I will share my Magical 4-Park with limited FP from last Wednesday.
Mission: Thrill-Seek as Much as Possible With Fearless 6 year old daughter.
Pre-Booked FPs:
Tower of Terror 3:13-4:15
Star Tours: 5:00-6:00
Toy Story Mania: 6:25-7:25
Park #1 Animal Kingdom -- Early Open Hour of 8 a.m.
Drive from resort to AK at 7:30 a.m. Park opens at 7:50 a.m. No rope drop.
Walk to Everest Expedition through Dinoland (this is the quickest way, not through Asia).
8:00-9:30 a.m.
Rode Everest Expedition 5 straight times, walking on each time
Ride Dinosaur as Walk-On
Walk Back to Everest Expedition, ride again, essentially as a walk on
Ride Kali River Rapids, get drenched
Leave
Park #2 Epcot
9:55-11:30
Get in line at Test Track at 10:07. Posted wait time is 40 minutes. We get into the car at 10:52.
Eat lunch.
Leave (we don't ride Soarin because daughter thinks it is boring since the ride does not move)
Go to hotel to change out of wet clothes
Park #3 Hollywood Studios
12:30-6:40 p.m.
12:45: Tower of Tower, posted wait time is 20 minutes, we walk on as standbys all the way to the door of the attraction
By 1:35 p.m., we have ridden Tower of Terror 3 times with minimal waiting
We then proceed to Rock n Roller Coaster, which has a posted wait time of 10 minutes. Daughter is measured by is only 47 7/8 inches tall, barely missing out on being tall enough to ride.
1:45-3:15: we do the Great Movie Ride and Backlot Tour. GMR was a walk on. Backlot Tour took a while as we had to wait 2 cycles.
3:28: Toy Story Mania had a posted wait of 50 minutes. Touring Plans apps showed an expected wait of 38 minutes. We decide to wait. Wait is about 47 minutes.
We exit TSM at about 4:25. Daughter wants to ride TOT again. With 15 minute grace period, our TOT FP is about to expire. We hussle to TOT and make it at 4:30. The FPs are still good. Posted wait is 50 minutes at this point as one side of the ride is down for some reason.
5:10: Star Tours. Use FP. Posted wait is 10 minutes, but it is really a walk on.
Ride Star Tours again with no wait afterwards.
Watch Muppets Show after that.
6:20 Ride Toy Story Mania on FP.
It is very hot on this day and I am sweating a lot. We grab McDonald's to go, go to our hotel, eat, call home, and change again.
Park #4: Magic Kingdom 8:20-closing (11 pm)
At 8:30, I check the FP kiosks in Fantasyland next to Stitch just to see what is available. We get a FP for Space Mountain for 8:50. We proceed to ride Space Mountain as standbys. Posted wait is 10 minutes, which is about right. Ride Space Mountain again with FP.
9:14: Check the FP kiosk next to Buzz. FP for BTMR for 9:25 is available, so I take it. No wait at either kiosk, with only 1 or 2 CMs there to help. Did the reservations myself both times with little problem.
9:25-10:00: Ride BTMR three times with minimal waits.
10:00-10:15: Watch fireworks from Geyser next to exit of BTMR
10:15-10:50: Ride Splash Mountain twice as walk ons
10:57: Ride Jungle Cruise
Leave the park. Daughter falls asleep on monorail. Get up next day, do indoor skydiving, drive home.
Even though we used 5 FPs, 4 were essentially non-necessary. The FP for TOT did save a bunch of time, but we had already rode the ride 3x by that point. Only Toy Story Mania really mattered (and we still did that once as standby).
Overall, our ride count was as follows:
Everest Expedition -- 6 x
Dinosaur -- 1x
Kali River Rapids -- 1x
Test Track -- 1x
Tower of Terror -- 4x
Great Movie Ride -- 1x
Backlot Tour -- 1x
Toy Story Mania -- 2x
Star Tours -- 2x
Muppets -- 1x
Space Mountain -- 2x
BTMR -- 3x
Splash Mountain -- 2x
Jungle Cruise -- 1x
Granted it was a low crowd day, but for all the angst about FP+, this shows that there is still plenty of opportunity to do big things, even without FP.
Park-hopping like this is normal for us because my daughter gravitates only to the thrill experiences at each park. In an ideal world, we could use our 3 pre-booked FP anywhere in WDW, in which case we would almost always use our 3 on Toy Story Mania, Test Track, and Soarin (despite my daughter's feelings, we would ride this if there wasn't wait).
At Animal Kingdom, we have always been able to ride the big rides bunches of times early, especially on early hours days. Plus, we always close the Magic Kingdom.
