StephenKay said:I had a long chat to various officers at two events on two separate cruises to get to the bottom of this question, the answer I got on both cruises was that the cabling for the updated services within the stateroom WAS BEING INSTALLED, I really didn't think that they would put cabling in but not connect the full system, some officers in the next breath then mentioned budget and time constraints, something I really didn't think I would hear from DCL. For the recent drydock they had a number of projects I over 530 projects some of which were guaranteed others were if time allowed and others were behind the scenes projects such says crew updates and not all projects were completed, why for instant did they put the delay in the first cruises down to bad weather when they then spent 50hours with cranes at PC when they had no time booked in the program other than a 20 hour stop in PC. They did have some bad weather on the crossing high seas, rolling and sleet and hailstones.
I for one think the Magic needs work, it's a great ship and long may we all sail safely on her.
I think what it came down to was a time issue. We left on the Fantasy on the 19th and talked to several crew members about the Magics condition. The basic story that came out was that some of the work was supposed to be done on the ta. However bad weather prevented a lot of it from being done. There was also some unanticipated issues - if everything we heard is to be believed. Which was why the first cruise was canceled. What we saw from the Fantasy was a lot of stuff coming off. Keep in mind the DCL warehouse is only 20 minutes away from PC. It made sense to stop there to off load any spares etc. Most of the crane work we saw was garbage coming off the ship. Literally container after container.
Truck1 - I love ya. However, I gotta disagree with you on this. The crew on the Magic debunked the TA crossing weather BS. The contractors were the issue. They are redoing a lot a the work they did. Yes, they needed more time as well, but the issues run a lot deeper. And it's sad to say that.

Oh boy. I guess it doesn't look good to come out and say "our contractors have done a crappy job". This makes my heart sad.
There are a lot of contractor stories out there and yes, it's heart saddening.
Something else, contractors were chain smoking in most of the staterooms, so there are a lot of complaints about them wreaking of smoke. No es bueno.

The contractors were also smoking in non-designated areas. I went for a run on deck 4 at 7am and they were working on the deck and smoking on both sides even though smoking is only allowed on the starboard side front and I believe from 6pm to 6am only. I ran through clouds of their smoke and dogging their tools.

So just before the smoking on verandah ban starts they have stunk up the staterooms. DCL needs to NOT return to that shipyard again! How pathetic, and embarrassing for them since social media has this all over the internet already.lbgraves said:Great! So just before the smoking on verandah ban starts they have stunk up the staterooms.
