Although we have always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, we are a family of 5 and don't fit. Getting 2 rooms there is highly impractical... may as well bump up to the larger deluxes, then. My question is, under the new Magic Your Way plan, is the price per person? So, if I got 2 rooms at the WL it wouldn't break the bank? Or, put another way. If my family of 5 fit in a single room at POR (or CR, or BC etc. etc.) , could I split us up into two rooms for the same price as cramming us all into one? Would that be allowed under the plan?

The savings are ONLY based on the new ticket price structure. The room prices stay the same. The are only displaying the savings as a per person savings based upon 1 room.

Are you sure? The Mousesavers website had packages per person at resorts. Obviously, the more expensive resorts would cost more, but it didn't sound as if it was the cost of the room Plus a per-person for tickets and meals add on.

All prices quoted by Disney always assume double occupancy. So, if they are quoting an adult price at $400 (let's say), they are assuming the adult will be sharing that room with another adult for the same $400. So, in your example, that 5th person would be a higher charge, since they wouldn't be sharing the room with anyone, and you'd need two rooms still.

Edited to add: After re-reading your post I'd like to clarify a little more. If you're traveling with two adults and three children, the childrens price is almost always just park tickets, usually no room component is added in their pirce. The adult price is always quoted as double occupancy (which means that they divide the room fee by 2 and add that to the per person quote for adults, but assume 2 adults will be in the room) and has a room component and a ticket fee. To assume what you're trying to do, you'd have to price your children out as adults to get 2 separate rooms, since that includes the room component as well as the ticket component. You can not pay for 2 adults and 3 children and be placed in two separate rooms, since the children's price doesn't include a room component. You'd still be responsible for that additional per night charge for the additional room. I hope that makes what I was trying to say a little clearer.

it's definitely worth looking into...

this past year when we went to wdw, i had done a major pricing analysis, room, tickets, transport, etc using every possible variable... thought i had a good price ironed out... then along came the 5 for 7 deal and for what we wanted, it came out ahead... great... then we got to thinking that we might want more space, so i looked into a 2nd "room only" and booked it... decided to go back and look over the pricing one more time... just for kicks i priced one adult/one child in a room, and doubled that price and it came out $250 ahead of all other options...

so, yes, we got two rooms (at a value resort-pop) for $250 less than one package for four plus room only (which was not even $200 more than the package w/the four of us crammed in the same room) *and* we had no problem getting connecting rooms :)

Can you explain that in a little more detail...because we would like to take my MIL on this trip so there would be 3 adults and 2 kids. What would the pricing look like for 1 room with 2 adults only and 1 room with one adult and two kids?http://www.disboards.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=7045083#

i don't know what the pricing would be under the new plan... ours was under the old 5+2 or whatever it was called...

i tried to get a quote from the www.waltdisneyworld.com site, but their reservation system is down... once it's back up and running, that may be the easiest place to start getting prices...

in the meantime, if you are anxious, i would call and inquire about 1 adult/1 child first, then call and inquire as to price for 2 adult/1 child and add them together... compare it to the price for 3 adults/2 children and see how it comes out... that is what i did and was pleasantly surprised...
