Magic Your Way....Premium or Plus????

I posted in the Bargains Board but didnt get a bite.....

We are going to WDW in Oct2005 for 7 days and staying at AK. We are taking out 8 year old daughter....this is out FIRST trip! .... We would like to know if the premium package is worth the jump in cost from the Plus package.....

I didnt think so. We are going for 7 days at CBR in October and the Premium would have been alot more. It just didnt work out to be better. We just went with the Plus dining package. We plan on eating a total of 20 times while there at the park and the Plus dining plan is paying for 13 of them. It would have paid for 14 but we are using two table service options each to go to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

All in all we should only have to use about $300 - $350 for the week for our three main meals a day.

Make sure you understand the difference. The MYW Plus ticket does not allow for park hopping. You will be limited to one theme park per day but would have a number of Plus Options (number varies according to length of ticket you buy) to use at the minor gated attractions like water parks, DQ, WWoS and PI. The Premium allows for park hopping and everything that the Plus Pack does. Either can have the no expiration added to them if you desire.

So if park hopping is important to you, the Premium would be what you'd want. If it isn't, get the Plus ticket.

I differ with that. I have a 7 day 6 night MYW +Dining package that includes Park Hopping and the Magic plus pack AND it is not the premium package.

Okay, this gets confusing because there is both a Premium Ticket and a Premium Package.

The premium ticket is the name given to a ticket which has both the Park Hopper and the Magic Plus Pack options. So if you do a package with a 7day MYW ticket with PH and MPP it may also be referred to as a 7day MYW Premium ticket.

Then there is the MYW Premium Package. This most resembles the old DM Gold package giving you 3 meals/night of your stay and the MYP Premium ticket equal to the number of days you are staying at your resort. It also includes things like unlimited recreation, admission to Cirque du Soleil, La Nouba, admission to the kids clubs (Neverland Club, Simba's Cubhouse etc.), unlimited select WDW Tours and some other things as well.

If you are asking whether to go with the MYW Premium Package as opposed to the MYW + dining, ask yourself the following questions.

• Will we realistically enjoy 3 full meals/day?
  Do we want to enjoy Cirque du Soleil, La Nouba?
  Will we have the time/inclination to partake of the recreational activities included in the package?

If you are a golfer, plan to do lots of tours and/or want to take advantage of all the recreational opportunities at WDW this is a fabulous plan. I know of families who calculated their savings with the old DM Gold and Platinum packages and found that their savings over a la carte prices was $5,000 or more. However, to recognize such savings, you have to know that you are going to be using the different items offered in the package. IMO the key is to see how much you would truly use the recreation and other options to determine the value for your family.

Ohhhhh. My mistake. I just knew I didnt have the premium package. They really should call the premium ticket something else.

We're getting the premium tickets because my son HAS to go to go to DisneyQuest several times during our trip. Also, hopping is a must for us.
