Get ready to raid your 401K plan....

For those who want a vacation with the works, and can pay for it, the Walt Disney Travel Co. has added a Magic Your Way Platinum Package that includes pre-trip planning, accommodations at selected deluxe resorts, theme and water park tickets, three meals a day at Disney restaurants, a nightly snack, a fireworks cruise, a spa treatment, child care, special tours, recreation such as golf and water sports, admission to Cirque du Soleil and to children's activity centers, and a keepsake.

A sample vacation with two adults, a child age 10-17, and one age 3-9, staying six nights at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge during regular season would start at $7,065.

That is over $1,000 per day to visit Disney....ouch!

I wonder if you itemized all the items separately, how much you would save. That is if you use all of them. Three full meals a day plus a snack is alot of food.

I did the Platinum Plan in 2004 - we (2 adults) saved over 2k for 3 nights. We were not exactly rich (far from it), but we really (okay I) wanted to try some of the different package components. Our pace was non-stop, and we did manage to do everything we wanted to do, and had a blast doing it. Keep in mind, that you do not have to stay the whole time on the plan. We stayed at POR up until the package started. So there is a "budget" way to try this plan - not sure if budget is the right word, but you understand what I mean ;)

Did you just say, " . . . would start at $7,065"? YIKES! :scared1:

I am vacationing in Disney with the Platinum plan this year in September. I travel solo . Compared to the premium plan i think i am spending 2k more
with this plan. Another major difference is that i am staying at the Akl with
a savana view and not a standard room. Around 4k for me and i booked air
seperately at the time. Already have 1/2 of the trip paid off.

Sigh. Just once, wouldn't it be nice to be pampered and treated like royalty on a vacation? I wish I could afford to save up for a platinum package, but by the time I'd saved the $8,000+ (including airfare) the cost of the package would be at least $16,000! ;)

Plus I'd have to bribe DH to settle down after I told him how much I was spending to go to WDW again...he's not such a fan of Disney vacations. Took him once, but I'll have to find someone else to be my Disney traveling buddy from now on! :teeth:

::yes:: ITA

We always go to disney in the summer & could never eat 3 full meals a day & a snack in that heat.

Can't wait to try the Platinum in September. Yes, it's quite pricey for just the two of us but worth it! Too bad Disney revamped their package plans. Back in 2004 we were on a plan called Silver that we loved so much we swore we'd never go back to Disney without it. But that plan no longer exist and Platinum is the next best thing. It's a small fortune but to us it's worth it!

I meant to type Premium plan, not Platinum

I cannot image that being a value of any kind. I think it sounds like something for people who can afford to throw money away to book and not have to worry about all of the planning that most of us Disney visitors to - just my opinon.

For us I don't think it would work out. We don't want the recreation, waterparks, childcare, spa- three meals and day and snack would be too much. It does sound like fun if you use more of the features.
