Has anyone used this package and is it worth the cost? Can anyone recommend how much to budget for food/dining for a family of four who are small eaters for 6 nights/7days? Thanks!

I don't think you can go wrong with this dining plan. The $35.00 per day per adult and 9.99(?)for the kids its the cheapest way to go. You get counter service meal ( entree, drink and dessert) , 1 sit down meal ( entree, dessert and drink) and 1 snack per day. You can use the sit down meals for buffets and charcater meals. Just suppose you had a buffet around $23 and counter service $17 (w dessert) you are already up to $40 so your ice cream or popcorn is free. I've compared the prices several ways and its better than the other plans. You could also have a late character breakfast and early dinner and its the answer to the lite eaters plan. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

After spending an hour with 2 CM's on the phone (thank you - phone card!) I cancelled my ressie at the WL (6/13-16) and then re-booked there with the Magic Your Way with Dining. I was thrilled with the price ($1545 for family of 4 / about $400 less than at WDW.com) and the deal clincher was the savings I will have on dining. Having looked at the menus (for a LONG time), I, myself, will save about $40 alone at 1 meal at Spoodles!

My advise would be check the menus and see what restaraunts are available under the MYW w/dining packages and then load up.

Everyone talks about how expensive Disney is - well I believe with this deal - they are certainly giving a little back!!

Andy,

Is the price you quote an AP or Email Code rate? I would love to get a similar deal as you. You booked it through Disney directly, right?

We think the plan is well worth it! Here is a link that explains the plan in complete detail with examples:

I can see that the plan works well for families with younger kids (under 11 years old) but if you’re like us with two over 11 and one under you would be paying for four adults and one child for a total of about $290 per day. Now I know that some days we could spend that much on food but I also know that we could spend a lot less. I looked at it this way, do I want to spend the money up front and eat well or do I want to have the option of saving money by not eating at a $25+ dinner with appetizers and desert every night. I realize that you can save a lot with the dining package but you’re not saving if you wouldn't have spent the money in the first place. One other thing to keep in mind is eating takes time, so if the Disney dining experience is what your looking for the plan may be great but if attractions and shows are what your going for then maybe eat less and play more.

Greg,
I don't get the math. The MYW meal plan is $35 per adult and $11 for children under 9. 4 adults @ $35 each = $140, plus one child = $11. Total per dat is $151. I'm confused by the $290 figure. :confused3

We're going in June to WL, and we are doing the plan. My boys are big eaters, and they would cost me a fortune if I had to feed them ala carte !. My wost case estimate has us saving $150 for the 6N/7D trip. Expected case is ~ $325.

Good luck in deciding. I suggest you use the menus at allears.net and run the numbers. If you're family is all light eaters, the portions are such that you can split meals and then the MYW plan doesn't pay off.

I just wish they would bring back the Meal Vouchers. We saved well over $200 for a family of 5 last August. Too bad they are no longer. :guilty:

In fact I just sold the remaining 11 I had on Ebay. I couldn't believe the activity on them. Unfortunately they expired the end of May.

oops, well what’s a hundred bucks or so among friends!

One planning note with the meal plan, to get most value from character buffets, try to book dinner instead of breakfast. There is usually $7-$9 difference per adult between them at the same places (such as Chef Mickeys $17.99B, and $26.99D), and instead of getting breakfast fillers such as pancakes and waffels, you get meats and desserts. Both count as 1 character meal on the meal plan. :mickeybar

I am still trying to decide if it is worth it too. The one thing that makes me hesitate is that you prepay and can't get a refund. If someone gets sick during the trip, the wasted meals could cut into the savings REAL quick. The other thing is that it is a lot of food. I'm sure I could eat it, but SHOULD I eat that much is the question.

Decisions, Decisions...
