Magic Sewage Issues

Sailing on her 8/25. Not concerned. Sewage issues can happen on any ship regardless of age. It usually happens because people try to flush things that shouldn't be flushed - sanitary products, diapers, wipes, their own brand of toilet paper they bring on board because their hinies are too delicate for the approved marine-grade toilet paper, etc. When they do, they are handled quickly.

We're not on until next year for the WBPC. 14 nights on deck 6 midship. I'm very slightly, it's in the back of my mind, worried. 🫣

Anybody know what would happen if rooms end up out of service on a completely sold out ship? Especially if you're already at sea? Where would they move you?

I'm sailing in August and I was worried until I read a recent trip report and was reminded that the vast majority of the ship is fine (they were sailing during the atrium leak). There are plenty of other areas to spend time at.

They wouldn’t be able to move you anywhere. They would clean and probably place fans in the room to dry, and then once it’s clean and dry, you’re all good

I got off the Magic two weeks ago (we did the San Juan to FLL sailing). There were odors in random areas. It wasn't everywhere. I definitely noticed it though.

We actually had an oopsie on the inaugural Norwegian Fjords. We had a nice balcony room and upon entering the rooms when they opened, we found out that there was no functioning bathroom. (the floors and fixtures had been ripped out and the room was supposed to be out of inventory but they mistakenly sold it anyway). We went down to GS and found out that "every other balcony room" had sold out by upgrades at the port. However, they magically found us one on the same floor and I believe category. They do hold rooms back for emergency. However, for a large amount of people, I don't know what they'd do, and I personally wouldn't be cool with a recently flooded room that had not been terminally cleaned and just dried with a blower.

From 2022-2024, I had been on the Magic 4 times and only once did I sail on her where I have been on a sailing following one with a sewage issue. While it can be on any floor, there seems to be something going on near mid-ship on Deck 2 that pops up from time to time, but still fairly rarely. As others have said, this is usually fairly promptly dealt with. All that to say, I personally would not be overtly concerned, and would not hesitate to sail on the Magic again.

The current issue is on deck 6. My daughter is leaving on Friday 4/18. Got her room assignment and it is deck 6 mid ship. Crossing my fingers that her room is not affected and that the waterfall in the atrium has been fixed and the carpet dried out.

It is not true that they hold back rooms for emergencies. Sometimes there are rooms available to move people to, but it is certainly not guaranteed.
They can do nothing for a large amount of people; although they’re good, they cannot conjure rooms out of thin air. Sometimes this is when other pixie dust is provided.
Flooded doesn’t mean it is bad or dirty. Most of the time it is just water and having it cleaned and dried is the best they can do about it

There is no “current issue”. There was an issue a few cruises ago and now it has been fixed. Obviously anything can happen at any time (on land or sea), but otherwise, your daughter will be fine
